What's the general perception of the 16M?
#62
Mike,
I had a CS when I got the 16M. Once the 16M showed up and I drove it, the CS just sat in the garage most of the time. In fact, the first time I drove the CS a week after sustained 16M driving, I thought the car was in "limp" mode or the ECU needed a reset ! It felt sluggish and lagging compared to the razor sharp shifts of the 16M.
The CS had a tubi NGT and hyperflow cats resulting in one of the best sounding cars I had ever experienced. Until that is, I drove the 16M with the top down. I consistently found that when I went up through the gears without watching the tach I short shifted at around 6500 rpm...it was THAT loud. I still had roughly 2k rpm to go !!! It is no exaggeration to say the hair on the back of my neck stood up...and still does when I stick the boot in a bit
It never gets old.
Get in the twisties and throw it about and you realize this is more than a parts bin fluff model. It is simply the best modern convertible Ferrari has built. Add the limited production of 499 worldwide, 525hp with 60 ms shifts, drop top experience and open air engine note heaven...and you have the best modern Ferrari sensory experience next to the GTO.
The CS will have its time again and will be written up in Octane in 20yrs time
But both subjectively and objectively its no contest methinks
The 16M stimulates all the senses like a true classic should.
Hope this helps....what colour are you getting mate ?

I am actually surprised how one sided the discussion is. Really thought the CS would come out tops.
Jas, your opinion and experience is always valued! I remember you sold your CS after your took delivery of the Scud and then 16M
It really seems I need to get behind the wheel and experience it for myself. I honestly thought the 16M was a bit of a parts bin exercise, so I wasn't bothered.
The car is Rosso Corsa
Oh my
