I drive a manual car with a stick shifter, so I don't know anything about e-gears or any other paddle shifters for that matter. I let the revs go down and downshift accordingly when driving around town, but never in to first gear.

What happens in an e-gear car if you hold the paddles to go in to neutral, then suddently need to engage a gear to accelerate when you are still going 30-40mph? Can you just skip to 3rd gear by flicking the paddle quickly?

- it will choose a high gear, at those speeds it will most certainly be 5th or 6th in an fcar based on my experience

- yes u can skip gears by flicking double time

Ah young grasshopper, you've so much to learn.

Just ask anyone who works with me or Parkin how I drive. I'll make you toss up your Gerber if you're sat next to me in the passenger seat Alex.

Challange accepted?

Me thinks it wouldn't phase Alex one bit after all the chumpcar races. And if it does, then you are driving very dangerously and his reaction will be fear for his life.

You oughta join my race team for a weekend and we'll see who puts up better lap times.

Road America is about as close to your side of the country as I'll be getting this season but I'll be there in late April and again at the end of October. Feel free to PM me if you're actually interested in racing. I'm sure we could get you some seat time.

You should downshift to 1st if the Ferrari has e.Gear. If it is manual or F1 you can just always coast. Also dont put the car in 1st at speeds greater than 100mph (e.Gear 90mph). Most e.Gear Ferraris will go to 1st automatically when your road speed drops below 50mph. If you are in a manual Ferrari and you want to start off in 2nd gear (for wet or icy conditions), put the Ferrari in 2nd gear.
