I usually just let the engine die to a low rpm before downshifting. Kind of rev-match cheating.

Downshifting is for motorcycles. And those milliseconds you guys talk about? Youll lose them bc your arm is too tired from sifting and mine is rested. You have to downshift on the road to match speed, but I ain't give you the stopping downshift BS. I drove manual many years, I actually tried downshifting at a stop few
times , and always found it unnecessary. I call BS on the brakes wearing out. Is rather change brakes 2-3 extra times over time than rebuilt the tranny.

This isn't about what you THINK. It's about fact. I've gotten brakes to last 70-80k easy with a manual transmission car. And I've yet to replace a clutch on any of my previous manual cars with less than 130k on them.

SHIFTING is for those who know wtf they're doing, which clearly, you do not. (you replace the clutch, not rebuild the transmission on a M/T. If you need to rebuild it you're DOING IT WRONG!!!!)

any more words from you and I'll deduct 5,000 man points.

SILENCE peasant!!

There is no law saying you have to downshift to come to a stop and it's not a FACT that is the correct way to do it. That is absurd to think that. It doesn't prove you know how to drive by being able to downshift to show how loud your car is. Period.

Nothing wrong with a quick, precise short shifter... It usually sits next to my right leg though. Not sure what you've been driving if it's between your legs.

This. You're not going to impress anyone with your downshifting.
