Truth or Myth: I cannot walk into a dealership and buy a new 458.

That's messed up. Is Ferrari the only manufacturer that has this problem or does this with clients or are there others? It's like you have to earn the right to be a customer. Terrible business if you ask me.

Jay Leno always complained about the way he was treated when he went to Ferrari dealerships... look how many he's purchased over the years.

Pisses me off to no end when I hear dealers treating people like crap. And embarrassed that I'm in the same profession.
Our large Porsche dealer imho is worse than our Ferrari dealership here. Yes you can buy a car from them but you better spend years kissing their ass if you want them to care about you. The arrogance of the place blows my mind. With 100's of Porsche dealerships in the country and no rules like Ferrari has I'd assume they would kiss your ass more. Pathetic to say the least.

Zero. Though he did cite maintenance as a reason.

I thought that was an excuse? Didn't he actually share a story about how he walked into a Ferrari dealership in his usual jean attire and no one gave him the time of day. When he asked for some help didn't they make a rude remark doubting he is capable of purchasing a Ferrari? If not I'm going to be wondering how the hell I came up with this.

It's not like FIAT is rolling in gold.

If I was the FIAT CEO I would be livid to hear stories like this, considering that:

a. One of their brands, Ferrari piss away so much money racing.

b. They purposely under produce cars when they could sell more and make more money for FIAT.

c. They almost intentionally drive customers away to competition in say St Augusta with the piss poor customer service. I can tell you about the story of a Testarossa radiator that a friend had to go through to get one.

Goodluck to the OP, I hope you can get hold of the car you want.

My local Porsche dealer is the same way. I've bought a ton of Porsches & Audis from them, referred tons of people, etc., yet they act like I'm bothering them when I come in. Of course, when half the clientele buys 2-3 new Porsches a year, I must be a nobody. Next thing you know, my Porsche won't even get a parking spot up front...

Seriously, the only decent dealerships around here are the Aston Martin, Infiniti, and new Audi dealerships. The newest Audi place is amazing - I even met Penske at the grand opening.
