Team Speed‘s Favorite Exotics from the Heythrop Park Auction
Silverstone Auctions’ recent sale had plenty of cool exotics up for grabs, including a few Ferraris, Porsches, and Jags.
Some of our favorite places to check out exotics here at Team Speed are auctions. Where else outside of a car show can see so many Ferraris, Porsches, Jaguars, and more in one place, and with the opportunity to take one home, no less?
Last weekend, English auction house Silverstone Auctions held its two-day May sale on the grounds of Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire, England. We found more than a few cars that stole our hearts, and wanted to share them with all of you.
1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder Conversion
We featured this Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder conversion a while ago, and it’s still pretty damn cool. The conversion was done by Costa Mesa, California’s Richard Straman Coachworks back in 1978, and was once owned by a Coca-Cola executive in Australia before it arrived in the United Kingdom in 2008. It’s definitely a fabulous example of Maranello’s style.
1975 BMW 3.0 CSi (E9) Coupe
Draped in the rare Turkish Blue, the BMW 3.0 CSi Coupe is one of the last 43 of 207 right-hand drive cars made in Bavaria between 1973 and 1975. The stunning matching-numbers coupe was fully restored with the intent to make it a daily driver. We hope its new owner takes this beauty out through the countryside every chance they get.
1988 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo Targa G50
Another rarity, this 911 Turbo Targa is one of a handful to receive the G50 five-speed manual near the end of the 930’s life. The body looks amazing in Guards Red, and the Linen Grey leather makes the driver’s seat a luxurious place to be. Add the removable top for some sun-kissed cruising, and you’ve got an e-ticket to paradise.
1995 Jaguar XJ220
One of two blockbusters at the auction, the 1995 Jaguar XJ220 once lived in a private collection in Malaysia before it was discovered by the auction house and shipped off to England for restoration in 2015. The Le Mans Blue Jag is a stunner to this day, one few other cars can touch.
1935 Bentley 7.4 Litre V12 Special
Originally a closed two-door coupe, this green Bentley was turned into two-seat race car between 1986 and 1990, then gained its 7.4-liter V12 from a Rolls-Royce Phantom III in 1999. Since its transformation, the Bentley has competed in numerous vintage racing events, and will likely win a few more with its new owner. All we know is we’d like a ride around the track when that happens.
