Two-day auction to feature classic Ferraris, Porsches, Jaguars, and ‘one of the very best’ AC Acecas in the world.

Summertime in England means a few things. Of course, there’s the Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex. The Royal Ascot, for a different sort of horsepower, over in Berkshire. And the famous BBC Proms concert series at Royal Albert Hall in London.

But before all of that happens, Silverstone Auctions will be making an appearance at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire on May 10 and 11 for their two-day auction affair.

“Set within the historic grounds of the Grade II listed Heythrop Park, the auction will showcase gleaming examples of automotive excellence akin to a Concours d’Elegance,” said auction manager Arwel Richards, “with best of breed examples of all marques over our two day sale in the heart of the Cotswolds.â€

And what gleaming examples the two-day auction will have. The first day will feature a 1988 Porsche 930 911 Targa Turbo — one of the few equipped with the G50 five-speed manual gearbox — and a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 converted from a berlinetta into a spyder early in its life.

1960 AC Aceca

The second day, meanwhile, is all Britannia, all the time. One of the stars up for bidding is “one of the very best” 1960 AC Acecas in the world, having undergone an extensive restoration to make the sports coupe shine. The other is a 1954 Jaguar XK120 DHC originally owned by de Havilland test pilot and Royal Air Force squadron leader Desmond ‘Dizzy’ de Villiers, draped in British Racing Green and accompanied by a Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

There will be plenty of other fine cars and memorabilia at the two-day auction in Oxfordshire, as well, with more to come before those two lovely days in May.
