Porsche Design 1919 Globetimer UTC a Must-Have for the Jet Set
Porsche Design’s latest watch is made to keep both home and local time, the latter with the push of a button.
What’s one of the hardest things to handle while travelling? Keeping track of the time, especially if your destination is a few time zones away from home. Smartphones and smartwatches can keep up, of course, but if you prefer traditional timepieces, there aren’t too many watches out there that can keep accurate time after setting it to your destination’s clock and also tell you what time it is back home.
For those of you whose second home happens to be in first class, Porsche Design has unveiled a watch that can do it all, and do it well: the 1919 Globetimer UTC.
The secret to the Porsche Design 1919 Globetimer UTC is its ability to shift to local time with a push of the right button; the upper “+” button moves the short, local-time hour and minutes hands forward by one hour, the lower “-” button moves them back one hour, and the back has a handy guide to how to set your watch for when heading east or west.
Up front, the face of the 1919 Globetimer UTC has a tiny dot on the left side across from the 18th hour mark, which goes from white in the day to black at night. Meanwhile, a second hour hand keeps track of the time back home, so you’ll know when it’s the right time to give your friends and family a ring.
The 1919 Globetimer UTC comes in four different colors (Gold, Titanium & Brown, Titanium & Black, and Titanium & Blue) with genuine Porsche car leather bands for three of the watches, a titanium band for the Titanium & Blue Edition, and all have water resistance up to 100 meters (in case you wanted to go snorkeling on your journey). And of course, it’s as accurate as you could ever want a watch to be, thanks to Porsche Design’s own rigorously tested movement.
Part of Porsche Design’s 1919 collection, the 1919 Globetimer UTC will arrive in September 2019 at Porsche Design Stores, select retailers, and via Porsche Design’s website, with prices starting at $6,350.
