Porsche Reveals the Cayenne Coupe

In an effort to grow its SUV portfolio, Porsche releases a coupe version of its successful Cayenne SUV. And it’s spectacular!

“The Coupe includes all the technical highlights of the current Cayenne, but has an even more dynamic design and new technical details that position it as more progressive, athletic, and emotional,” says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG.

The Cayenne Coupe is an exercise in design. It is built to change the perception of what a sporty-looking SUV can be.

“The significantly more steep roof line that falls away to the rear makes the Cayenne Coupe appear even more dynamic, and positions it as the sportiest-looking model in the segment,” says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. To go along with the roof line is a roof spoiler.

Speaking of spoilers, the coupe gets an adaptive roof spoiler. The current Cayenne Turbo was the first SUV to feature the tech and the Cayenne Coupe uses the tech by tying the roof spoiler with the rear spoiler, which Porsche calls its Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) system.

The front windscreen and A-pillar have become shallower due to all of the roof edge being lowered 20 millimeters. Because of the roof changes, the rear doors and fenders were changed around 18 millimeters to give the Cayenne Coupe a more muscular stance.

Roof, roof, roof, it’s all about the roof with this one. The actual roof of the Cayenne Coupe comes as two options: a panoramic fixed glass roof standard on all models or a carbon fiber roof option. The carbon fiber roof will be available in one of the three lightweight sports packages. Regarding the look of the roof, it was stated that it gets a visually appealing center seam which took inspiration from the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Porsche will be releasing two Coupe models: The Cayenne Coupe and the Cayenne Turbo Coupe which will start for $75,300 and $130,100 respectively.
