Stunning Porsche Design Watch Celebrates All-New 992 911
The Porsche 992 911 is the iconic model’s eighth redesign in 55 years. That’s worth celebrating with an all-new timepiece.
It isn’t often that the world is graced with an all-new Porsche 911. But we’ve just experienced that rare phenomenon once again at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, as the 992 generation of Porsche’s iconic sports car made its official debut. But the 992 isn’t the only beautiful new Porsche that bowed in L.A. It was also joined by the perfect companion — this stunning new timepiece from Porsche Design.
Dubbed the 911 Chronograph Timeless Machine Limited Edition, this special watch exists specifically to honor the 992. And it does that much the same way the 911 has for decades — through purist design, functionality, and high levels of performance. Those same fundamentals drive Porsche Design, which produced its first timepiece way back in 1972.
Aside from their overall beauty, the most intriguing thing (to us anyway) about Porsche Design pieces is the attention to detail. Each features a number of design aspects and/or materials direct from their automotive counterparts. The latest of which starts with a narrow and low-profile bezel and dial wearing the 992’s silhouette. A sub dial carries the “Timeless Design” logo, which refers to both the new Porsche 911 and the 911 Chronograph Timeless Machine Limited Edition’s limited run of 911 pieces.
The overall design looks much like the dashboard of a 911, with white hands and indices against a black background. The chronograph itself resembles a speedometer. Even the strap consists of the very same leather and stitching you’ll find in, you guessed it, the 911.
Utilizing lightweight construction has always been a staple at Porsche. Thus, the same concept applies to the 992-inspired watch thanks to a lightweight hypoallergenic titanium case. Cut out lugs further the weight savings, and contribute to an overall minimalist appearance.
The 911 Chronograph Timeless Machine Limited Edition lands at fine retailers and online in April, carrying a price tag of $5,411, which means, of course, that you’ll be able to wear one when you pick up your new 911 this summer!
