Mopar Spring Festival of LX

From mild to wild and everything in between, fans of modern Mopar muscle found heavenly rides in SoCal this spring.

Fans of Mopar muscle have plenty of amazing events to choose from each and every year. But most pale in comparison to the Spring Festival of LX, an exclusive gathering so important that it’s one of the few times that the legendary Auto Club Raceway at Pomona is closed each year. Spring Fest partners with the biggest and best Mopar shows across the country to put on the ultimate mega meet for fans of Challengers, Chargers, and every other slice of modern Chrysler muscle.

This year, our very own Derin Richardson was on the scene at the 2019 Spring Fest to capture all of this modern Mopar magic. And it was clearly evident to the longtime fan of the brand that this year might just be the biggest and best in the event’s illustrious 15-year history.

“This year’s Spring Fest was by far the most eclectic,” Richardson said. “Sure, there were lots of Hellcats and several Demons, but you also got to see a lot more Magnums and 300s, too. My favorite so far has to be the bagged, silver-wrapped Scat Pack Charger by Airlift Performance. It’s the cleanest-looking Charger on bags I’ve seen in a while. And while I generally don’t like lowered vehicles, there’s something elegant, yet menacing about this Mopar that I can’t ignore.”

It’s amazing to think that Chrysler’s LX platform has existed only for 15 years. Yet it’s attracted a truly massive following. The very first Spring Fest took place the year this platform debuted, in 2004 (for the 2005 model year). That year, a mere four cars showed up. But by the next year, that number was up to 100. Last year, there were over 2,000 cars on display. This year, that number figures to be even higher.

Attendees, as usual, enjoyed a massive number of incredibly fun activities. You could drag your own car down the quarter-mile, of course. Or even take a “thrill ride” in a Dodge piloted by a pro driver. And naturally, there was a massive car show outside chock full of all kinds of builds, from mild to wild. For Mopar fans, it’s quite simply a can’t-miss event. So make sure you mark your calendar for next spring!
