My mom bought my dad an original Rolex Sea Dweller for their five year anniversary back in the 1970s. Its the same size as my Submariner, but the bubble and fact that its sealed with hydrogen makes it my favorite Rolex ever. Unfortunately, his has begun to fade like this one.

I love my Deep Sea, and it feels great on my wrist which is not huge by the way.

why you should do it:
- brushed oyster bracelet
- maxi dial
- big crown (function not form)
- blue lume
- rolex, not a panerai so you're doing it right

why you shouldn't:
if you try it on and do not like the way it sits on the wrist

@boardman - the only draw to me for the explorer/rolex in general is the option to have endlinks used in conhunction with your favorite leather strap. Great look.

This is the proper opinion, my issue was the fit other then that it is the perfect modern Rolex in size and features. And yes NOT a Panerai.

You'd love his then. The last time he had his serviced was in the '90s, due to the fact that the Rolex office in Dallas takes for ever to service it.

I'll snap a pic of it along with my grandfather's late '60s GMT next time I am over at their house. A lot of people knock on Rolexs, but I LOVE their vintage diving watches.

If his is the Double Red Sea Dweller, it is probably worth about $20K today. Just saying.
