Contemplating trade offer... (Vintage Port for Big Pilot)
Fellas, so the Vintage Portofino moonphase I have been holding onto is on the selling block.
I just got a trade offer for a Big Pilot. New Portofino+ 2-3g for New BP.
I'm slightly struggling with this one.
Portofino:
PROS:
-Beautiful clean classic piece.
-Would serve as a perfect black tie event watch.
CONS:
-Manual wind, especially with the moonphase can get extremely annoying.
-Only looks right for black tie events, which I goto only 3-4 times a year.
-For the cash needed to make the trade happen, I could keep the Portofino as a formal watch and pick up a Heritage B&R to be a goofy fun casual watch.
Big Pilot:
PROS:
-It's a Big Pilot. Much more versatile. Great movement.
CONS:
-Starts to overlap in my collection.
I have too many tweener sports watches.
-SS Daytona and a couple other sports Rolexes.
-Portuguese Chrono
-Portuguese Auto (would most likely get rid of this immediately)
-RG Nautilus on its way.
So I don't really have a sharp formal piece, probably the Nautilus would be the closest thing to a black tie watch.
I'm interested in any thoughts or perspectives you guys have.
Any BP owners here? How often do you wear yours?
