thanks for the explanation, and wow, a 500% mark-up where would this world be without marketing huh?
i was certain you ship globally sir, but i am uncertain on kuwait's customs and have not learned of anyone buying jewellery online. did you ship to kuwait before? trust me, we have somehow managed to detach ourselves from e-shopping and a LOT of times it is a hassle!
i heard declaring jewellery/watches as gifts is the best way, but i am not sure.
who knows, perhaps in the future we could arrange something. i would be honored.

wait, do you know my sister? that is EXACTLY what she tells me. she put it in terms i could understand when she told me "a chanel bag is a patek watch". that made so much fvcking sense it was clear to me how women view their accessories and i will never ever judge anymore. as such, i have come to consider Chanel and will plan to go probably Saturday to browse colours and sizes.
in hopes that you are having fun responding to this thread KT, may i ask for directions on above-average sized chanel bags? model names/numbers perhaps?
i will say though that if i go with Chanel, i will go with the most practical + safest bet for a bag that can be used with almost everything (wardrobe). i won't be thinking of baby trips.
this seems nice though and fits the criteria, can't find price anywhere though am i wishful to hope it's not over $3.65k?

That being said, there is nothing wrong with color, or lack of as in the Damier Azur. That is a lovely bag, keep in mind there are 3 sizes. If she will be using it as a diaper bag as well, get the GM size, it is the largest. Unless she is very petite, it shouldn't overwhelm. LV's Mahina bags are nice as well, full leather and softer to the touch. They have a gorgeous Marine blue (Stellar GM) if you are leaning towards that color.
I agree with you about Dior, never been a fan. I'm not partial to the Bvlgari, but again..just a personal opinion.
I think it's great you are putting so much thought into it. I am sure she will love whatever you choose. Keep us updated!
awesome!!!! loving the mahina stellar gm.

this cirrus mm is good as well (btw, i get it's for size but i have no idea what gm/mm stand for )

the mahina is a very pricy line because of the full leather, correct? at $4k for the stellar, and $3.55k for the cirrus, the guy in me says why not get her 2 bags in 2 different colours/sizes for now keep the big guns for later.

i will go browse for bags this saturday, luckily both LV and Chanel are at the same mall (so is bvlgari), so if i don't stray and spend the time checking out watches, i can pretty much get some work done and finally decide if i want to get a bag now (august), or keep it for her birthday in november - for budgeting purposes, this will allow me to not think about cost of a bag and focus on the jewellery for our 1st anniversary (7th august) + baby's present.
thanks a LOT KT and everyone, this thread has really pointed me in the right direction so far and has helped me loads!

The thing about Chanel is I think the fact that Coco revolutionized so much for women, she was the first to truly bring art to fashion. She brought glamour but kept her designs timeless and classic. Karl Lagerfeld is genius and with Blake Lively as their spokesmodel, the lines are hip, current and coveted. So yes, your sister put it in nice perspective. We quite simply drool over Chanel. You cannot go wrong. So funny you found that bag because I was going to show it to you earlier. Photos don't do it justice although I'm not sure the size of that one. I tried on the same bag, different style and it was $3k The one in your photo looks on the small side, the one I looked at was probably considered Medium.

The LV Mahina's are pricey. I think the MM stands for Medium and the GM means Grand or Large. Quality over quantity, 2 bags are not necessarily better than 1. Don't get the Cirrus, those wrap over slide through buckles are a pain in the butt.

You will see something in the store and know it's the right one, I'm sure. The thing about Chanel is oftentimes what you see on the website and what they have in the store are different. Same color, fabric.. different style/size.

As you've gathered I love talking about this stuff (ironically on a male dominated car site) so feel free to continue to ask and I will try to help.

i had to google "coco" i tell myself i should pat myself on the back for not knowing that, but deep down inside i reckon it makes me a lot more lame than cool

glad i picked the bag from their website that you were thinking of, i learn fast very encouraging price as well, i will make a note and ask about it iirc, i don't think the chanel store here would order a bag for a customer, which is kind of stuck up if you ask me, but perhaps it makes sense from a business standpoint (exclusivity, get it first sort of thing)

as for the Mahina, gotcha on the 2 vs 1!
translation: one audemars piguet is better than two rolexs
one porsche gt2 is better than .. 1 and a half nissan gtrs (?)
and i guess the fact that it is leather makes it more worthwhile and everlasting (esp in a darker colour) for the extended durability and cleaning purposes if ever the need arises

hopefully i can make it on saturday, and will report back on the bag search!
right now: i am set on the vca ring + will make sure they get it on time even if i pay for it sight unseen. will also checkout what matching earrings i can find/order

which begs the question: is building a set through gifting them on occasions the right thing to do here?
as explained above i got her this alhambra tiger pendant and she loves it

so is completing the set the right thing, or could it be overkill?
mind you, my wife wears the Hejaab and so the pendant (and earrings) are ietms that she will not wear for when we are out. but it is sort of why i want to get them + the ring for whenever she feels like it and she can just pop it on her right hand whenever

I'm not big on matchy matchy, but they are beautiful pieces and if she'll wear them either together or separately, there is nothing wrong with adding a piece for each occasion.

Pretty much stick to a few major rules.

No purses unless your wife/girlfriends is shows you exactly what they want. Then and only then go after it. If its a hard to find model and you don;t mind the cost find a buyer for you (IE coach natural legacy alligator) Long straps short straps, color, clasp its just to much for us men to pay attention to.

Diamonds are always good, custom diamond settings with a good local builder is even better and a much better deal. IE my wife ring is in the style of a etole Tiffany's but the stone is 2 times bigger and a order of magnitude better cut for the same cost.

Clothing is out, but never underestimate the gift card. If she has a brand in major rotation just get the card and step back. Quality over quantity.

Diamond earrings are great but a diamond drop necklace or stone ring will get used more as long as its not extremely extravagant.

Beyond that its a bit wife/girlfriend specific.

1. one down, bought the LV d azur siracusa gm today

they did not have the mihana stellar gm but did have mihana mm in diff colours (beige was really cool).
they did have a monogram empreinte in navy, which tbh to my virgin lv eyes was kinda the same as mihana, but when put side to side, i could definitely see what KT meant when she said the mihana is softer to the touch.
the mihana stellar gm was quoted to me at a price slightly over the much smaller 'classic' chanel which is just as a normal sized clutch bag (which was in beige but i think black would be the same). to me, i still can't get the "logic" behind that, but i'm coming around

2. before that i went into vca again, made it clear that i am dead set on the ring and would pay right now but they said they can't do that and promised to give me a call 1st thing when it arrives. would love and prefer to have it before 1st of august for my peace of mind.
found the alhambra tiger earings for over what i expected ($3.47k) so i'm not sure if i will keep them open for another occasion (bday is in november) or if i decide to get on with it when i go pick up the ring. i will know once i am there.

3. which lead me to go into cartier and ask for yg earings to perhaps match them with the vca necklace/ring, was shown 2 from the LOVE collection (one with one diamond, another was with three), though they were nice but "meh", but my god the trinity earring took the cake!

would set you back a cool ~$12.5k (before discount?)
definitely on the radar though but i don't think i would swing it this time because that would be tough to match in the upcoming occasions

4. saw the bvlgari bag (blue pear shaped leather), a bit underwhelmed after a trip to LV/Chanel, but also put off by its size

following from the post above, here's more of a rant:
damn lv are a bunch of stuck up dipsh1ts aren't they?
i admit i didn't look the part (puma f1 shirt with training pants and trainers and adidas sneakers), but wtf man
sad part is the saleswomen weren't hot, and the dude was your stereotype-gay-act. stood there like an ahole for over 10mins easy waiting for someone to attend to me before i barged in on the cashier lady. did not take more than a minute to decide to buy and she started chatting me up

last time i checked it should be the opposite. but whatever, i'm new to this scene but seriously wouldn't have thought it was this bad

Ali, she will love the bag. Sorry you had a bad experience with the salespeople. They aren't like that everywhere, I assure you. I picked up a LV recently and they couldn't have been nicer. I was in workout wear, too
