Had it not been the weekend I definitely would've contacted them first. I just figured if there were some sort of secret trick I wasn't aware of, I'd find out sooner from you guys

You should be able to bend it in but it's a trick and could damage the tool your using or the bar. You can also try imparting a bit of a bend on one of the ends before you got to install the bar by sliding the bar into the end of the bracelet about 3/4" and bending the bit that is still out slightly with a needle nose plier.
