I have sold a lof of safes in my other security company and I keep my watches there.

Here are a few input:

* You are right, no need to buy a spruced up safe ( even they are very nice)
Look for European approval grade.

* Make sure it is tested and certified for both burglary and fire.

* Buy a relative heavy safe, no less than 75-80 kilo.

* Make sure to hide it in a closet or similar.

* Bolt it to the floor.

^ All good, albeit obvious info.

Also, if you intend to hold cash / valuables of a certain amount, make sure the safe is rated for it's intended storage usage i.e. if you've got watches only worth 20k and intend on holding more than 30k cash you will need to upgrade the safe or you wont be insured for losses.

Good, but obvious as well.

Looking at safes such as this:

Chubbsafes ProGuard Grade 2 Model 60E High Security Safe : Chubbsafes Eurograde 2 Safes
I agree, it nothing more than to purely charge the watches.
