Audemars Piguet presents the Don Ramón watch The Swiss fine watch manufacturer from Le Brassus opened its first boutique in Madrid, Spain in December 2008. This almost 400 square-metre store is located in a prestigious part of town at the heart of the Salamanca district. The Don Ramón de la Cruz boutique breaks free of the traditional constraints of a showroom to become a meeting point and a club reserved for devotees of Haute Horlogerie and of design.
Upon stepping across the threshold, the visitor enters an avant-garde atmosphere clearly conducive to a sense of well being. Accompanied by the gentle murmur of a fountain, customers are invited to enjoy relaxed conversation while sipping a cocktail, a glass of champagne or a fruit juice at the bar situated near a vividly coloured garden.
Anyone wishing to enrich their knowledge of the mysteries of watchmaking can choose to browse the well-stocked library or visit the museum area exhibiting some of the brand’s most famous timepieces. An electronic smart panel also offers visitors the opportunity to observe the precise gestures of the watchmakers at their workbenches.
As a material symbol of this brand-new boutique, Audemars Piguet presents the Don Ramón de la Cruz watch in a limited edition of 100 for men and 50 for ladies.
This chronograph paves the way for a new line of watches that will be exclusively reserved for the Audemars Piguet Madrid boutique and progressively enriched – to the undoubted delight of watchmaking enthusiasts. This charismatic watch has a fascinating personality expressed through the strong character of its masculine version and the exquisitely elegant design of the ladies’ model. The case-back of each watch is engraved with the name Don Ramón de la Cruz.
This authentic work of art combining the beauty of tradition with an appealing and innovative design radiates a warm, Latin-style spirit. The pink gold of the case harmoniously matches the chestnut brown shade of the strap and dial, thus creating an extremely strong visual impact. Its two interchangeable straps in rubber and crocodile leather ensure it is suited to a broad range of uses and circumstances.
“It’s exactly the model that was lacking in our collection”, said Philippe de Palma, Managing Director of the Audemars Piguet Spain branch, “and I consider this watch as the emblem of our boutique”.
The bezel is adorned with polished screws, and set with diamonds on the ladies’ model. The hands are coated with black luminova. The strap is crafted from elegant hornback crocodile leather, while the crown and pushers are moulded in black rubber. In keeping with the style of the models in the Royal Oak Offshore collection, the dial is graced by the “Méga Tapisserie” motif.
