it's arguably better than ever - the new chef's style is, imo, more satisfying than the last chef (who opened his own place in SF - Benu.) i had the vegetable tasting menu a year ago & it was very good.

the beauty of san sebastian is that it's just an old town square w/ a million places - all tapas (forget their word for it) - so you just go to each place - eat a small plate, order a drink, & move on. it's one of the coolest places in the world.

if you want to go upscale (250 euros+/person before wine), my two recs would be:
- mugaritz - one of the most original restaurants in the world
- etxebarri - 1 hour away, a master grillsman (on Anthony Bourdain at one point)

Hey chuck, we are looking renting an apartment in SF as a vacation place. The name of the building slips my mind right now, but supposedly there is a private restaurant in there that is run by Michael Mina and has several of the French laundry guys in the kitchen. Have you heard of it, if so, is it any good?

nope but the bay area is on fire right now - so you'll have plenty of options - except for sushi :-(

The building is called the millennium towers.

Don't you have a sushi place or two that you frequent? I had some good sushi near the Prescott hotel once. They cater to American tastes, but the chef/owner is from Japan.
