Renting a porsche in Germany
#21
If you've got any suggestion we'll be in Munich for a day or two.

Again dont want to put you down but this was taken yesterday in a park in Munich:

But don't worry there is still SO much to see in and around Munich when it comes to cars!
My suggestion would be:
- Rent a big German salon
- Drive over to Stuttgart, it takes around 2 hours and you can try out the Autobahn
- visit Porsche (no need to explain why I guess)
- to finish visit the "Meilenwerk" (look it up online, it is pretty much every gear heads dream)
- drive back
Think that would be a pretty good day trip.

Thanks Lgebbers,
I'm not too worried about the snow, we haven't gotten enough of it here! Picked up a new weatherproof shell the other day, so I'll be plenty warm and dry. We're going to the Porsche museum for sure. We're mainly going to Germany to see friends and do a couple things I wanted to do for my aging grandmother. We'll be headed down to Morocco after Munich.
Thanks for suggesting the Meilenwerk, I'd never heard of it, but that looks like a great place to check out.

i would suggest planning your vacation around it & absolutely doing it. as Pearl said, a basic sports car will be more than enough fun.
driving on the autobahn was *amazing* - i would go back to Germany again just to do that properly. the stretch from Belgium -> Frankfurt airport, from 6pm to 10pm, was dark & perfect with quite a few unlimited areas.
but, do not get on the road thinking you're hot shit. it is unlike *anything* you've seen in the unlimited zone. when a brand new 458 passes you doing at least 180mph, you've been de-flowered.

Where are you staying in Munich??? Def go to the Hofbrauhaus (sp?) for some beers one night. Also take a cab out to the BMW Welt --- that is a cool place.
DEF go to the Meilenwerks too. I was just there a few months ago and was BLOWN AWAY by that place. Cant wait to go back.
