Going from my previous recommendations in this thread, I stick by them.
Ate at Nobu Old Park Lane last weekend, food was good, service was average, price was average. Too many social wannabes to count, too many noisy families with young kids, to cramped. Go to Umu or Zuma for the best Japanese in London.

Tomodachi (Simi Valley) - 10/28
So I ended up at this place while I was waiting for a movie to start at the theater next door. It was Korean owned and operated and not really authentic Japanese. They must have had 30 different rolls on their menu. I ordered some of their better fish and some other interesting appetizers. Maybe I'm spoiled, but they reamed me on the bill. It was easily twice as much as I normally pay at my regular haunts.
Kaki Half Shell - I don't usually see Kumamoto oysters around here. These are my favorite, very sweet with a touch of brine.

Toto - This was a little fattier than chutoro, but not quite ootoro. The yuzukosho on top was kind of weird when served with this raw fish.

Chilean Sea Bass - This was miso marinated and grilled. The taste was pretty good, but the portion was surprisingly huge.

Hamachi Nigiri - Yellowtail belly. This was not quite as fatty as I would prefer.

Kalbi - Grilled marinated short ribs. Had to try these since the owner said she marinated it herself. This was indeed tasty.

Popcorn Lobster - This was underwhelming. I've had better rock shrimp and the batter was heavy and sweet.

Special Roll - I asked them to make me something special. This is what I got. It's a cucumber wrap with 4 or 5 different types of sashimi on the inside.

been to chiba once now. it was good and i'd go again if i was in the area. i need to have a sponsor so i can try some of the real omakase. that's the problem with trying new places. if they don't know you, you don't get the good stuff.
