Shangri La in Dubai

Hi all, new to the forum here, but not to the vBulletin of course.

Going on vacay to Shangri-La in Dubai this summer and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the hotel and the thoughts on their amenities and concierge. Any thoughts, experiences, insight would be great. Thanks, and I look forward to visiting this site often.

Berk I stayed in that hotel but didn't like it if anything I would recommend staying at this one Jumeirah - Dubai - Mina A' Salam - Welcome

This hotel is next to the beach and the shopping mall as will. You also have good restaurants

M3-ADDICT is an unknown quantity at this point
I havn't been to Dubai, but I know Jumeirah is the company that built Burj Al Arab, and all the big hotels so you'll be in good hands.

CondorCGT - Thanks for the reco, it looks like this trip we're locked in for the Shangri, but next time I'm out there, definitely Jumeriah

M3-Addict - Yes, I'm aware of Jumeriah, I've been to the Burj Al Arab (bought myself some hats there and took some shots of the inside, and ate at the restaurant up top), haven't stayed there yet (but would love to).

Thanks for the input guys.

CondorCGT - I had a classmate from Bahrain and he had done a presentation of the financial market in Bahrain (this was 10 years ago) and I have been very interested in visiting. Any insight on the tourism, sights to see, etc there? Thanks.
