San Francisco

A good friend of mine is planning to move to San Francisco. He has lined up a few job interviews and is flying out there at the end of the month. His main goal is to check out the area and see what he and his girlfriend like so they can narrow down a home purchase.

They currently live in a very trendy culture rich area and want the same setting out there. Can you guys recommend any specific areas he should look at to live? One's he should stay away from?

Thanks!!
- Bill

he'll probly like the city of san francisco. most other cities near by are suburbs. some suburbs are affluent and rich in culture (like palo alto) but not trendy per se.

Thank you for the reply. Do you have any personal recommendations on what section of the city you like the best?

They would probably fancy SoMa or the Marina for areas to live in the city (not cheap to buy in those areas though). For the 'burbs, Walnut Creek is affluent, culture rich and pretty trendy I suppose, plus offers easy train access to the city.
