How did I know you would be the first to comment? So from personal experience where did u find the best Zipper Steak... I mean with a White Couch and a Mustache, you pretty much scream "BACK-DOOR BANDIT"!

It depends on what kind of experience you are looking for....
I lived in SF for several years, and love a good steak. Here are some of my thoughts;
- Harris is good, traditional steakhouse experience. Not great by any means
- Boboquivari - some swear by the place and say its the best in SF, some say "meh, not that great" Unusual setting.
- Bob's Steak and Chop House - my personal favorite. Genuine upscale, steakhouse experience.
- Alfred's - old school steak house.

Thoughts on Gary Danko?

Gary Danko is without question one of the best restaurants in the Western US. It is truly a unique dining experience defined by nearly perfect service and amazing food served in a small, intimate atmosphere. Definitely worth the $$$$ Be sure to do the wine pairings with dinner, and save room for the cheese desert plate. It is unreal!!!!
Jank, I would definitely take a strong look at Boboquivari's as your steakhouse for this trip, but SF is not really known for steak restaurants.
I would also take a look at Ana Mandara, Bix, Boulevard and The Slanted Door. All (along with Gary Dank) are uniquely "San Francisco" dining experiences. I'm sure there are many others that people can chime in on, but those are some of my favorites.

i personally think Gary Danko is over-rated and the Michelin 1* rating is spot on - it's a good meal but not as world-class as it would lead you to believe. many people would disagree w/ me.
Bobo has my vote for 'the best' 'steakhouse' but that's not saying much - don't remember anything about the wine list. i'm sure there are better steaks in SF.
