Reception:

Night ceremony thing:

Restaurant:

Pier:

Your room pool:

Bed:

Lounge:

Main Beach Koh Tao ( Where the shops/ bars/ restaurants etc are. It's a really cool little setup ) Also, one of the woman in this photo is topless. " oh really? I didn't notice when I was taking the photo babe "

Koh Tao Street behind that beach

Dog at our hotel on Koh Tao. He would see us walk outside our room in the morning and would follow with us to breakfast, sleep next to my chair, then walk back with us! He's one of 2 "official" hotel dogs. There are dogs everywhere on the island, and you often see a pack of dogs run through the hotel grounds together at night. They are totally harmless, really cute to see a group of them together ( always together ), not one of them the same breed.

Thanks a lot for all the great tips, and amazing pictures!
I really appreciate it, it's always good to be prepared before you leave for a new place.
I'll share some of my pics in this thread when I return.

Unfortunately there has been a major flood due to heavy rain on Koh Samui. All planes and boats to and from the island has been cancelled, the roads are collapsing and most of the communications are down. This means we had to cancel our stay at Langham/Gurich and look for an alternative place to visit when we leave for Thailand on Monday. After talking to some friends of mine who have frequented Thailand, the choice fell on Koh Chang.
We are going to stay at a hotel called Amari Cove, it looks like a nice place, and gets great reviews on Tripadvisor. Will write a short review here when we get back home, together with some pics of course.

Yeah, just got back last week, but been busy with work.
Koh Chang was very nice, but in general the population is poor and it is pretty visible. For me who have traveled some in Asia before this did not come as a shock. But for my girlfriend who had never been outside Europe it was unexpected.
The hotel we Stayed at, Amari Cove, was nice, probably the best hotel on Koh Chang. It had the classiest and best restaurants on the island, but we were not that impressed with the food. We hoped for some more 'upscale' restaurants on the islands, but even the best that we got recommended were pretty simple places.
The hotel had a very nice 24 hour 50m pool, and very good service at the poolside/beach area.
The beaches on the island were alright, but not anything special. Not the clearest water and mostly shallow water for around 100-150m out from the shore.
We rented a motorbike for a couple of days and rode all around the island, and there was not that much of sightseeing to do. But it was a nice break from the hardships of laying at the pool drinking cocktails and beers
The best experience we had was at a elephant sanctuary, 30 minutes drive from the hotel. Were we spent two hours with the elephants, first we took a bath with them, then an hours ride on elephant back in the jungle. Sitting on an elephants back in the water, scratching it's head and giving it a scrub was an experience of a lifetime.
