L.A. Guys... Good Indian food?

It's been my experience that certain places have certain dishes that are fantastic, and everything else tends to be mediocre to sub-par.
I like the Chicken Makhni at Taste of India on the corner of Topanga and Ventura. Goes well with naan or Chicken Biryani, depending on how big your appetite is.
I'm going to try some of the other places mentioned in this thread though.

For instance, May's Cafe is good for their spicy beef noodle soup and fried porkchop rice.
Sinbala is good for their Taiwanese fried chicken nugget, mango slushie, and Taiwanese sausage rice.
Uncle Chen's has great oyster noodle soup.
But the spicy beed noodle soup is not so hot at Sinbala, for example.
