Fuel Price Question.

Ummm idk if it would really affect a car purchase, but I'm definitely starting to notice it more. I only get about 13mpg in the E55 and I drive about 20,000 miles a year, so it's starting to add up. I will say that it seems to have really affected the boating community. There were definitely less people out on memorial day weekend than in the past, and a LOT more people just cruising around at idle versus on a plane at 30 knots. It will be very interesting to see how this pans out. We have even cut back on joy riding the boats a bit, but if were taking people out were gonna take them out regardless.

Its pissing me off on principle. The supply and demand effect is somewhat artificial because of the eco nazi's who've done a great job of preventing us from being able to effect the supply and demand curve. Yet these same idiots want "energy independence", and attack the oil company's for record revenues; while failing to understand the economics of the situation.
That said, it is only somewhat affecting what I'm abou to do, which is a new M3 and a new Tahoe Hybrid (because my wife loves the Tahoe we have now). The "effect" is that I'll also go ahead and buy another bike... That Triumph Speed Triple is going to be great on gas... Lemonade from a lemon...

Recent college grad here, making okay money. And yes, it affects me. Whereas I used to be able to fill up my car for $35 with premium, $50 now gets me to 3/4. It's not to the point where I'm suffering, but other areas of my life are definitely being cut back (clothes, dining out, etc). I can manage, especially knowing that I will be getting a decent raise soon, but I would think anybody under my salary would be downright hurting.

On another note, my wife told me that she heard on the radio that local Dodge dealers are giving away a Calibre to anyone who buys a RAM 1500. Truck sales must be in the toilet.
