I'm really torn about what to get for my new SOCOM 16. Here are the candidates so far, but I'm not real excited about the mount that goes over the ejection port. If you guys know a good tactical scope that'll work on the forward rail, please let me know. I don't want to put an Aimpoint or EO-Tech on it (I have an EO-Tech on my SCAR).

The mount I'd likely get:

 

Schmidt is spoken of very highly by my local swat guys. They are using that manfacturer on their weapons now..

 

Yeah all three are super top-notch (every one is more than the gun cost). The ELCAN is really fascinating to me because of its quick change 1-4x and larger tube. The S&B is the most traditional of those three. The ACOG is just dead sexy.

I've loved every ACOG I've ever owned. But that Elcan is really sweet.

All are great choices IMO; but go with whatever is cheapest.

Spending big $$$ on a S&B for a non-long distance precision rifle (even at 1-4x) is probably a bit of over-kill. Unless you got it, then flaunt it!

 

Its a relatively short barrel so I say go with the ACOG.

 

Acog, even at 4x it will work up to 300 yards.
