I was at my gun club and this happened...

Thanks guys, I've gotten very jaded just because of the glut of AR makers on the market. So, I was very surprised when I could not resist buying this one.
I put this thing on a bench this weekend, with a GRSC CRS 1X4 scope on it; and this thing, without match grade ammo, easily hits at 500 meters. Time after time, after time.
The rifle is exceptionally well balanced, and the Walter Lothar barrel makes this thing very accurate at CQB, all the way out to max range.
BTW, if you want an AWESOME scope for an insane price, look up GRSC Inc, and have a gander at their Combat Rifle Scope in 1x4 or 1x6. Ed at GRSC is the guy who invented the horseshoe reticle, and he perfects it on his own scopes.

Quick question, why 1x4 or 6 vs something larger like 1x30?
And edit. As far as accuracy goes, would you say the accuracy is more to do with the barrel? Meaning, could you take an off the shelf upper/lower and have a higher quality (LW, shilen, rock creek, etc...) barrel and expect much better accuracy?
Pardon my ignorance, I grew up a handgun guy.

A good 1x4 will give you the ability to make a shot out to likely 600, maybe 700 yard. A 1x6 will get you to the max effective range of an AR/M4orgery at 800 meters.
A 1x4 can be used at CQB range like a typical red dot, with eyes open making for easy targeting. Then as you change distances, you change the power, and range targets at longer distances.
You could take an off the shelf upper and slap on a good barrel, like a Lothar Walther (ahem...
) and make yourself a nice gun that will hit at longer ranges. That said, the risk with an off the shelf upper is that it may not fit well with the lower; and there is a lot of play. Leaving you with a rifle that doesn't have great fit and finish, which, may or may not affect accuracy. There are a lot of options out there. So as I'm sure you know, you could build an accurate rifle pretty darn cheap.

Sure!
$1600, after wrangling a little bit with my range... They tend to have a rather brash mark up...
It was on the shelf for $1780 I think it was.
All top notch parts:
The upper and lower were made from the same piece of billet. The fit is exceptional.
NIBX bolt carrier group & hammer,
KNS anti-walk pins
Lothar Walther Melonite 16" barre
The furniture was fabricated by Head Down. Very solid, and maybe, just maybe a little heavier than most AR's out there. But the pay off is absolutely less felt recoil; which as most of you know, on an AR is not huge anyways. That translates to being able to stay on target MUST easier.
Look at my first post. That was 30 yards, with iron sites. It was easy to get a cheek weld, and reproduce the site picture because the muzzle barely moved.
I was at the shop today, and they had another Head Down that I did not see. It was the heavy barrel, 20" version, with Magpul PRS stock and PRI furniture... it was a dead sexy precision rifle for $1745. I wanted to, but did not push my luck on the home front.

The best reticle I've ever seen is on the GRSC CRS scope. And the new 1x6 is on the list.
