In Commiefornia, 10 is all you get. Hence my thought might as well carry the biggest ten I can comfortably shoot and carry correct?
If 10 is all I get or in your case live in California you best believe a 1911 .45 will be my choice.

^The 1911 seems like a great match for California residents.

I'm not sure I understand the hammer visibility concern. You're going to be treating all guns as loaded anyway.

My advice to you is to rent the guns and find the one that works for you. And remember that your safety is protected by using your brain, not what's on your hip.

Do you have your handgun carry permit yet?

How does a 1911 work in Commiefornia with the grip safety when they don't allow the XD series for the same safety setup?

Are you sure the issue was the grip safety? The XD is currently on the approved handguns list.

I remember a few people saying it was because of the 1911 style safety a couple of years back. But it might have been the capacity of the magazines. Interesting that it's on the list now. Ah well.

And to the OP, there's nothing wrong with the USP Compact. Jack Bauer kicked terrorist ass for six seasons with it.

I personally like it along with the SIG 226. Mini-Striker's arrival in Oct. has delayed gun purchases for a while tho.
