It looks like Maryland and CA are the same, no state Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms.

And it also looks like Maryland and CA are the same, no loaded open carry.

Crazy thing is, you CAN get class 3 in Maryland...

When was the last time you heard of a group of criminals open carrying unloaded guns in holsters while they sip on coffee at the local cafe? They committed no crime and there was absolutely no cause to believe they were committing a crime.

Secondly, our rights are not open to infringement merely because it makes some misinformed people uncomfortable. Here in Tennessee we have much more constitutional gun-laws, and you'd never see that kind of complete and utter heavy-handed overreaction to lawful citizens exercising a right. A right not exercised is a right lost.

Also I should point out that those officers violated the Fourth Amendment while seizing the handguns off the law abiding persons to run the serial numbers.

Instead of out fighting crime or even doign the usual revenue-generating operations, they are causing a huge commotion by harassing legal citizens.

You're off the mark on this one. The path of least resistence is often the wrong one.

If it is within the law to open carry, then there shouldn't be an issue. The problem lies within the liberal agenda to create a facist state in America, and the only way to do that is to disarm citizens so they cannot keep the government in check. This scenario has played out across the globe for centuries.
Though the cops should have responded due to the lack of education of the people that reported these people, they responded in a entirely unacceptable manner. There were two police responses. It should have been dealt with on the first response, yet the police arrived a second time with 30 officers and air support. Absurd, and borderline criminal, especially in a state that is bankrupt.
What compounds the issue, is the officer is insisting that they now call ahead if these two law abiding citizens are going to freely practice their consitutional and state rights. This is no different than being asked to call ahead so you can practice any other constitutional right. This is a bullying tactic to try and inconvenience these gentleman enough to not freely excercise the 2nd ammendment.

The Bill of Rights may be numbered, but no one right should be considered less important than any other. In a state where open carry is legal, to suggest one should only carry concealed is no different than saying the only time free speech can be practiced is when it is written on a piece of paper and not vocalized.

I'm not saying it should be an issue, but lets face it, it is not 1880 and this isn't the wild west. If you saw someone walking around Manhattan with a 1911 tucked in their belt, people would panic.

No one is saying you can't arm yourselves, but there is nothing wrong with concealing the weapon to avoid causing panic in public areas. Yes, having them call ahead is absurd and unconstitutional, but the reality is weapons make a lot of people uncomfortable (non-liberals included), open carrying in a public and crowded place is going to make people nervous.

The officers weren't being assholes, they were polite and just wanted to make sure nothing illegal was going on. You can say they over-reacted, but it is L.A., police have a completely different mindset when it comes to gang related shootings then almost anywhere else in the country.

But for 99% of the population here in Cali, there is no way to carry concealed legally.

You can say what you want about the legality these individual's actions, but that doesn't change the fact that they are ASSHOLES. They give ammo to the anti-gun crowd painting every gun owner as loose canons. Look it may be legal to openly carry a firearm, but is it a responsible thing to do on society?...I think not. This kind of crap scares the shit out of people for no reason whatsoever.

I know that some of the more conservative members of this forum may have reason to disagree with me, but in my opinion the actions of this guy were not helpful to anyone and were just inconsiderate and irresponsible.

Seriously?? Dammit, now I'm starting to understand this asshole from the vid a bit. I still think the way he went about protesting was out of line and was not beneficial to the rest of the gun owning community.
