Bloomberg better be prepared to spend a lot of NYC money defending his position, much like Chicago is right now come June.

Why would I be nervous? If the guy is going to do bad things, why would he pack an unloaded gun on one side and full mag on the other when he could just as well conceal a loaded gun then whip it out at opportune times? Your scenario doesn't even make sense.

My mom is a FOB from a country where no civilian firearms ownership is allowed, period, end of story. She held my M&P and my Sig 556 for a first time when she visited me last, and loved the fact that in America, you have the right to do so. I suppose it takes living in oppresive ass country to understand and appareciate how special the 2A is.

CCW is pretty easy to get in most counties in NY despite the issues you've had.

People get nervous because the liberal machine has driven it down everyone's throat about guns being "dangerous". This agenda is pushed very strongly by the hypocritical media, special interest groups and social terrorists like Jim Brady. Granted, police are more plentiful these days, and we aren't under the threat of being attacked by the British or Indians, but I think the point is, we need guys like this to exercise their rights to keep these issues relevant. All these guys did was follow the law. I'm willing to bet most Californians don't realize that they can open carry. However, I'm also willing to bet that most wouldn't want to anyway, and that is fine.

Let's fast forward 50 years, in a worst case scenario where liberals have continued to skew the average American from reality. The mere thought of owning a handgun could be viewed upon, even by gun owners, as a frightening thought. Will we shun those who own them?
It is a slippery slope that needs to fought every step of the way to help preserve our freedoms and protect America from the self destructive and satanic acts of liberalism, socialism and facism.

You are missing the point. Guns make people nervous, I don't care if you are pro 2a or not. If you see someone walking around with a gun you don't know if it is loaded or not, people are going to get scared and call the police.

CCW is easy to get for about 5% of NY's population. The many counties you speak of, are the least populated, the majority of NY's population is unable to get a CCW, either way that is irrelevant to the discussion.

I am not advocating increasing gun laws or anything of that sort. All I am saying is that people get nervous when they see someone walking around with a gun on their hip, and there is nothing wrong with police responding to make sure nothing illegal is going on and the guns are lawfully possessed.

I'm not disagreeing, and the police are obligated to respond, though certainly not in the method that they did.
People get nervous because they are being wrongfully conditioned to react that way, and that is something which is making it easy for anti-gun advocates to stip away pieces of the 2nd Amendment.

People don't get nervous in Tennessee, Arizona, and Vermont when they see someone with a holstered gun. Where do they get nervous for no reason? In liberal-controlled areas where they infringe on the Second Amendment.

The laws are the problem, not the citizens exercising their rights. Those patriots that were harassed by the LAPD are preserving the rights protected under the Constitution for all Californians.

In states where open carry is fairly commonplace, the average citizen doesn't make with the pants-crapping hysteria when they see someone with a pistol on their hip.

While I agree that where possible, concealed carry is the better part of discretion, in places where it is not this is an extremely effective way of making a point, both to LEOs and the public at large.

The people who pull these stunts in a completely law-abiding manner are the Thomas Paines of the day.

Interesting thoughts. I wonder what would have had happened if they had long guns (read..NOT ARs) instead. From what I can tell, many states allow open carry of long-guns regardless of CC restrictions.

I also find it amusing that the most vocal opponents to the actions of the folks in the video come from the more northern states...
