Anyone familiar with Steyr handguns?

I've been doing some research into my next handgun, and had a chance to look at a Steyr. The sights seemed remarkably nice. I haven't had a chance to shoot one yet. Does anyone here have any experience with them?

only in bond/counterstrike.

cool looking guns though. If I had to bet, I would say rufmd, Secure or Bajo would know a little something about them

A little bit. Pistol is double action only which I'm not a fan of. Not the most common gun around, could mean that mags are gonna be pricey. Given low production numbers, not as combat proven as HK, Glock, Beretta, etc.

I stick mainly with Glock, Sig, HK or any of the reputable 1911 manufacturers. Parts are readily available and cheap, and the local gunsmith isn't looking at the gun and manual cross-eyed at the same time when you need a mod or repair. For revolvers, S&W. Berettas, Springfield XD series, Taurus and FN handguns will usually come in about 10-20% cheaper than their competition and are IMO every bit as good. HKs are IMO a little overpriced. With the custom 1911s and shotguns you're paying through the nose for hand crafted excellent guns that don't necessarily shoot any better than premium off the shelf guns.

Given Steyr's rep, I'm sure that their pistol is a good gun. Might even be good for a collection. If I was looking for a carry weapon, I'd choose something more common.

The sights on the M series really caught my attention. They use a triangle / trapezoid configuration that is unique. Just sighting down the weapon felt very easy and comfortable. The range owner mentioned that he prefers their sights over any other, and wishes he could get them for other guns. I'm going to have to shoot one this weekend to see how I like it.

I had a Steyr GB way back when... Beautiful gun, one of the very first high-capacity 9mms. It was huge, well-made, extremely accurate.

I am not familiar with their newer stuff, but generally I'd trust whatever they make.

I like em. You can probably get a good deal if you find one.
Second what Chris entirely. Steyr makes a helluva weapon. I'd be confident in making a purchase if you considering one.

Entirely impressed with the .40SW

I had a chance put 50-60 rounds through one this weekend. I'm definitely buying one. The whole package works really well for me. It fit my hand almost perfectly. The sights made it easy to get used to the weapon quickly. Based on my limited time with the gun, I would recommend them for a short list to almost anyone.

I like the gun, the trigger felt a little "springy" but I did a good group with my first mag. The sights are great imo. I sure wouldnt mind owning one.
