How would you handle this?........Reason to get some additional weapons training

Bullet Grazes Frisco Homeowner During Shooting - News - MSNBC.com
This is a few miles from my community. I think the guy handled the situation poorly if you ask me. I would likely have waited in a strategic position in the bedroom and smoked the guy right as he walked in the door.
In the end I am glad the guy wasnt hurt badly though. How would you handle this situation?

WOW. NOBODY responded to this?! OK, here's how I would have handled this situation: I also would have shot him dead!

Easy. Walk out the back door, dial 911, grab a bite/drink at the local bar while the cops are doing their job, and come back 30mins later. Assess the damage, call insurance if necessary.

A laptop, flat screen TV or whatever valuable item is not worth having a gun pointed at me. They can have it, I don't give a shit, I'll buy another one. And a stronger lock.

I agree with you I don't think I would have been walking through the house looking for the guy/s. I find it hard to believe he missed with that shot gun too?

If he was clearing rooms properly he wouldn't have ended up in this situation. Given that he lives in a condo, I doubt he could have snuck out with the intruder on the first floor. He had no choice but to confront him. Too bad he didn't get the guy, because this scumbag is still out there, armed and obviously prepared to shoot people.

I would have been waiting for him to open my bedroom door. And I wouldn't have missed.

This is the way to go. Know what you're going to do in case of emergency, and practice.

Just like a fire. I know what window I am going out.

If there is an intruder, I know where I'm setting up, and my escape route.

You should practice different scenarios also. This guy obviously didn't practice. Next time, he should be ready.

Another thing...My breaker box is in my room....intruder comes in, power goes out! I practice going through my house in the dark. Intruders have no idea where the choke points are, and where the furniture is. In this situation, you have the upper hand.

Only thing bad about shooting in the dark is the muzzle flash, but I think the benefits outweigh costs of having the lights out.

Can't shoot what you can't see...you need a super bright weaponlight. This way you can see them and they are blinded as you shine it at them.
