People are afraid of another ban.

The last ban didn't affect people who already had mags that can hold more than 10 rounds.

I've got seven mags each for my Mini 14, AR-15, and AK-47, but that's just because when you rolling around the ranch (a little if not fairly drunk) its a pain in the a$$ to continuously reload mags.

Besides rational reasons (shooting large amounts at one time, bans, etc.) I think it just is a part of the hobby for a lot of guys (and girls). I don't see anything wrong with that.
