Thats why my partner and I stop into Wal Mart once a week, just on the principle of cheap ammo. We get lucky about once every two weeks, and get in to scoop up the ammo before someone else does. We buy all the .45, 9 and .223 that they have. The prices can't be beat, even if you do reload.

Wally world is one of the best kept ammo secrets around.

American Eagle is Federal and it is good. The only one that people should stay away from or be careful with is wolf. Their ammo is inconsistant.

For break in I used 500 rounds of reload range ammo in .45 cal. that was about $140.00 IIRC. Now I use Corbon 185gr +P DPX at $269.50 for 200 rounds bought at the-armory.com for my Sig220R Carry.

Mitch isn't far off. MSRP on the manufacturer sites are usually a couple hundred more than what you see at retailers.

In Michigan today .223 Remington UMC was $13 for a box of 20.

7.62 x 39 Remington was $19 for a box of 20. These prices were at dicks sporting goods.

I did find some 7.62 x 39 wolf at Gander mountain for $5.50 for a box of 20.
