But I also reload my own stuff... But I've got a "go to" guy in a pinch.

Your go to guy is better than mine apparently. I sold all my reloading stuff because I value my time more these days. Its worth it to buy it rather than reload it. Thats just me though.

It's actually what i thought MOST about..... gun is a one time purchase, NOT AMMO!!

Was thinking about a .22 due to cost of ammo haha...

but looks like a .38 would be nice, even a 9mm is good too.....

Get a .45 and buy a .22 LR conversion kit.

So that I can shoot .22LR and .45?

What's the cost of doing something like this? I was going to budget myself to stay UNDER $700 for a pistol.

You can score a Taurus PT1911 for under that easily. And before anyone mocks the Taurus name, I have one and it has out performed my Kimbers, Para's and Springfields right out of the box, and over all.

The answer to the first part, is that yes, you can buy a 22 lr slide. Some work better than others. The kimber set up is solid.
