For a 1911 holster I cannot say enough good things about Milt Sparks. I should be getting kick backs from the guy at this point of whoring.
Milt Sparks Holsters

Check with these guys if you want to pay a premium and not wait:
Lightning Arms Sports

As for ammo......get good personal protection rounds and you will be fine. Like I always say, There is NO ammo that I WANT to get shot with. Criminals aren't picky as to what form of lead they ingest.

I have found that while carrying IWB is extremely concealed it isnt the most comfortable experience in the world. I only mention comfort because if you intend to carry a firearm daily for hours at a time expect bruises, chafing and other strange pains. In addition there are other holsters while less concealable that are more comfortable. These holsters are still pretty good for CC. De Santis is a a good comfortable holster that still offers a very good amount of concealment... As for ankle carry you might want to equate it to wearing an ankle weight on one leg only. If you can get used to that idea you will stop noticing it after a week or two.

Also im going to quote Dr. T... " The 3" 1911 can be fussy. Make sure yours is completely reliable (at least 500rds with the ammo you will be carrying without a missfeed or jam)." hes right about making sure your arm is reliable. however once you find one that works well it is still important to know how to clear a jam if in fact one occurs... because in reality when things are moving 10000mph ANYTHING can happen and that includes a "reliable" gun jamming... Its pretty easy to find what are called snap caps on the internet for your pistol a good way to practice is AT THE RANGE AND ONLY AT THE RANGE is load a few of the snap caps with the regular ammo into your pistol mag... when they cycle your gun will jam and you will have to fix it there so you can have some idea off the procedure to get back in the fight...

Oh well... Look what snapper head decided to show up.

Nice to see you here mang.

Guys, Loki is a VERY credible asset for training info. He's ugly, but DAMN good with a pistol.
