I've got one of those... A Glock 21 and a custom 1911 Lightweight Commander. SIGs are great, but they are fragile compared to Glocks.

Justin, trust me, I'll make sure you get exactly the pistol you need and like.

 

whats the deal with civilians not being able to buy one any longer?

i tend to find that the glock is misbalanced, the 21 that i have experience with anyway. i know others have said this also, but i have found it to be true...

 

Get a riot gun, way more practical...

 

Unbalanced? You mean without a magazine in it? It is supposed to be that way - with a full mag, it sits right in the hand. Figure the slide is steel and the frame is plastic, so of course it's top-heavy.

 

There is nothing like a well fitted 1911. Just not for your first.

like those guys said, I'd also like to second/third, whatever, the reality of using what feels best to you. And learning to shoot the damn thing. Too many people get a piece and just let it sit in a drawer. Drop the dime for a range membership when you get the gun, and get your ass in there at least once a week.

Now... If you're only going to have one gun, for the time being.... You just cannot go wrong with a Glock, or an XD. You can absolutely bet your life on them. Sigs are awesome, but like Chris said, fragile compared to a Glock. Don't get me wrong, I like the way Sigs feel over a Glock, but if it was one and only one, it would be a Glock.

At any rate, sounds like you've got a great hook up in Chris. Hook up with him... Just don't hook up with him... I hear that he likes to squeeze the trigger on other guys pieces when they're not looking.
