That's where it sounds like you are looking for something to make you look cool.

Just take the class, and hopefully that will give you a better grasp of the impact and responsibility of carrying a pistol. It's not something you can half-ass, and it certainly should be something you just have laying around the car without thinking about it.

As far as owning guns I already have a bunch of shotguns. You guys, as usual, are being the internet "let see how much of a dick we can be" its so lame and I'm pretty surprised to see it here.

I will probably never carry this gun in public. I only want concealed carry so if I get pulled over and it's in the car the cops don't arrest me or do whatever it is they do. I also figured I might as well get the schooling to learn more about having a handgun ect. Secondly what the hell kind of jackass gets mad at someone for asking advice? This is a F-ing car forum, people ask advice all the time about what car they should buy, how is this any different. As far as a fashion accessory goes wtf are you talking about? I like nice things whether its cars, boats, planes or anything I don't buy cheap stupid crap because I would rather pay the premium for good service and quality, but I don't know enough about hand guns to separate the good from the bad.

I will probably never even discuss this with anyone I know, why would I want people knowing I have a gun. I really don't see how I made it sound like a fashion accessory at all.

Wow this is just so gay.

Three seperate people PM'd me after I posted saying what an idiot you sound like.

Bill,

You have a lot of growing up to do. I have seen you post on 6speed for a long time now and you come across as a spoiled little snob.

The way you describe your reasons for wanting to own a gun is just downright scary. No one got "mad", your post came across like an immature child wrote it and it scares me that someone with your mentality could own a firearm legally.

Calling us pansies and gay, only proves the point further that you have a lot of maturing left to do.

I'm sorry but this is a pet peeve of mine. Caliber has nothing to do with how experienced you are or how good a shot you will be. My point was to dissuade you of the notion that you need as large a projectile as possible to accomplish the job. Though I live in a state that does not allow carry, I have a carry gun (for when I travel to states that will allow it.) I am a small person, and could never fit my 1911 on my person in anything other than a winter parka. I have a .32 for carry, which many people will make jokes about. However, I can conceal it without issue in anything I wear, and I can hit what I am aiming at. I am confident that if necessary I can protect myself with it.

I hope you continue to ask for advice here, and I hope that some of the more seasoned members can find it in their hearts to guide you to the correct ideas rather than just scold you.

Agreed on all points.

Just my opinion, but leaving a gun in the car for the purpose of comfort seems like a bad idea for several reasons.

I know we toss are these phrases a lot online, and I'm even guilty of it, but when you say it in the context you used it in, it shows your real maturity. I have a few homosexual friends (and I'm not afraid to say it) and I know they take offense to it just like if you dropped the N-bomb on here.

common sense tells me a .32 that hits the villain is a lot more effective than a 50caliber flying over their shoulder...

What's the average age here? I'm 21. If I was the most mature 21 year old on the planet you would probably all think the same thing. The only point I was making was I want something good. I don't see why that is so wrong. To me my post was no different than a thread asking about what the best new jeans are, the best new exotic, or the best new anything. It had nothing to do with showing off, only with buying good products. If I bought some POS and posted a picture of my first gun you would rip me apart for being an idiot and not asking advice. Maybe the wording was wrong, but instead of trying to find my intent you just started attacking me. You could have been much kinder and still gotten your point across but because it was the internet you acted all big and tough. There is no way to trully understand what i am trying to communicate since forums are text only, and instead of giving the benefit of the doubt you go on this offensive...that's what I think is gay. If someone posts some stupid ass question about ferraris I'm going to try and point them in the right direction not make them feel like a stupid fu-k. Maybe I'll learn how to be a better asshole when I mature.

I made it very clear that I knew nothing about hand-guns at that point any decent person would realize maybe this guy isn't articulating exactly what he wants to say the right way. If we were in person talking I highly doubt you would respond like that, you might probe me with a few questions to see what I was thinking, but you would be much more polite. I just don't see the point of being an asshole to people on this forum, it was one thing on 6speed but I thought this was different that is all.

I think you'll find comments like that make people less likely to give you real advice and more likely to scold you. A gun is a very serious tool - if you don't feel you can place a round where you want to in any situation, don't carry one. A bigger caliber sounds like it will just give you a false sense of security.

Haha, you'd be surprised. A 50BMG can do some serious damage even without contact.

That's interesting because I have always had a lot of gay and lesbian friends and they expressed to me that today, not 5 years ago, but today it really doesn't bother them because they understand the meaning has changed. I used to hangout at wellesley college every night because I was friends with all the lesbian bar tenders and we would go pickup chicks together. I also just had this exact conversation with two gay men in my art class last week and they felt the same way, the conversation started because someone said a project was gay blah blah and they said they really don't care. As far as the n-word that's getting watered down too now, I know a lot of african americans that don't care if they over hear it, but the majority still do I agree 100%.

At the end of the day you are right though it was stupid response. I just am so sick of people acting tough on the internet it's just stupid. I just don't see the point of it.
