As I said time will tell and I'll be more than happy if the truth will be on your side.
Let’s not forget this car has been in development since 2003, orders and deposits are in the bag and the waiting list is just long enough but not too long to put off buyers. As the new factory comes on stream the 40 cars per year target will be achievable, it’s not at the moment. Also a number of buyers are holding out for the roadster. And let’s not forget they are trying to build cars whilst the new factory and show room are also being built.

The P1, 918 and LaFerrari production lines will be closed in about 18 months to two years at the most. After which we should not expect another halo car from these manufacturers for at least seven years. The exception to this will I think be the racing version of the P1. A birdie has told me that McLaren want to repeat their LeMans success

The Huayra will be in continuous production for at least 10 years and will follow a similar model role out to the Zonda. So for a period Pagani and Koenigsegg will have the hyper car market almost too themselves.

The turbo engine in the Pagani has huge tuning potential, the cars only real limiting factor will be traction, or lack of it in this case. But we have seen how quick the Agera has gone so solutions are available.

In conclusion I would say Pagani are very well placed in the market, the brand is very strong, the product has won universal praise and the cars are selling.

Was just giving you a hard time since you quoted me but it seemed your reply was far more appropriate for the comment made by D55L.

Huayra may not be the true contender in performance but the price is about in line with what I'd expect for a bespoke car in this class.

Thanks for sharing, I expected this eventually.

What's also interesting is that the car is now MY2014. I hadn't noticed before but the VIN was changed to this new one on the temporary sticker as well. It would have been fascinating at that time to note whether the U.S.-required VIN tag in the windshield still read the old VIN. My guess is that it did, since changing that one would have been much more difficult. So one car with two different VINs simultaneously. Oh but this was the way Pagani planned it!

I'm sure the VIN plates match now? Any other photos to share?

You're going to laugh...

Some friends went to see the Huayra in Beverly Hills the other day and one of them shared this image of the VIN plate at the base of the windscreen.

Dear Pagani - "You are [still] doing it wrong"

Great find Erik, thanks for sharing! Just as I suspected.

I know of a few Spyker VINs that changed Model Years, presumably prior to first sale. But this is the first instance I've seen of one car displaying two different VINs simultaneously. It would only occur if one VIN tag were hastily removed. To my eye, changing this one will require removal of the windshield or dashboard.

In any case I think we can easily lay to rest any notion that Pagani planned this course of action all along.

I've spoken to Michael there and since this is a pre-production car anyway, it won't be for sale and is simply being demo'd. This car will NEVER be registered by anyone at all, so even with all this mishandling of the VIN and exemptions, this particular vehicle is a giant expensive pretty looking brick. Wrapped in carbon of course (;

Regardless of "outside of America" it's car with two VINs posted on it. Can't be registered, hense the brick analogy
