I dont understand anyone arguing the fact John and his team have created a production car at the level he has. Congrats John on a successful startup. I hope to keep seeing more from you in the future. You've set the bar high!

 

Go back and carefully read my posts. The car is beautifully built and wickedly fast, John certainly deserves accolades for that. But the Venom GT cannot be the world's fastest "production" car when Hennessey is not a vehicle manufacturer. It's pretty simple.

My issue is with Guiness. At this point all "production car" records they award have to be taken with a grain of salt, because they have now opened up such records to modified and homebuilt cars. It's just semantics to some but that's precisely the reason why they attach words such as "production car" to the records.

I certainly agree that the Venom GT might be the world's fastest street-legal car, or the world's fastest modified car. And when Mr. Hennessey gets the Venom GT certified on its own as a completed car and starts putting Hennessey VINs on them, I will congratulate him and say that it rightfully holds the title of world's fastest production car, assuming something else hasn't beaten it by then.

But that time has not yet arrived, and in my opinion Guiness' awarding of this record is a sham.
