RED VENOM: A Teamspeed Exclusive first Look

According to its registration, it IS a Lotus.
Still, putting that engine into one is something any gearhead's gotta love...

As has been mentioned, only three Venom GT's exist and they reside with their owners outside of the USA. We will have one in America later this year. If you get a chance to see one in person, take it. The Venom GT will remain one of the most exclusive supercars ever built.

I like the looks, and the numbers, but am not sold on the comparrison to the Veyron (to 200 mph) until i see a video........and i am not sure the car is "different enough" from the Lotus (front and rear) to get a 10 out of 10 in the style category either.
Wonder where a TT Lambo would be next to this thing performance wise?

When we built the first prototype in late 2009, many said it would never run.
When we dyno and road tested both our prototype and first production Venom GT last summer, many said they were just an Exige with a big motor stuffed in the back.
When we showed our Venom GT to thousands of people at the Houston and Irvine Cars and Coffee events at the end of 2010, many were impressed with what they saw while realizing that the Venom GT is designed with one purpose in mind: Maximum performance.
I did not want to build a fancy watch with 4-wheels. Nothing against Pagani or Koenigsegg as they are both great cars. But I did not want to spend any money or time re-inventing switches, pedals, mirrors or anything else, unless it improved the performance of the car.
We designed the Venom GT to have the best power to weight ratio of any supercar built thus far. We designed and built the Venom GT to be the closest thing to driving a 917 Porsche on the street. If Steve McQueen were alive, I would want him to want to own and drive the Venom GT.
Our car is about one thing: Absolute speed and performance. The looks of the car are important too but they only came as a result of making performance our number one priority.
We have spent around $3 million in development, engineering and tooling to take the Venom GT from concept to reality (3 cars built and delivered, 2 cars under construction and 2 more to build after that). While this sounds like a lot of money, and it is to our small, privately held company. It is a fraction of what it would cost to build a completely new car from the ground up. Had we decided to start from absolute scratch as Pagani and Koenigsegg had done, then we would have had to spend $10-20m while taking much longer. We did not have that kind of budget or the patience to wait that long.
We have been unable to use one of our first three cars for any kind of media testing purposes as the vehicle owners would not allow their cars to be used for this purpose. We have other cars under construction and may have some opportunities this year to have one of those cars independently tested by one of the major automotive media outlets. When we do, I am sure you wil get a chance to read about it or watch it on TV or YouTube.
Thank you for your continued interest in the Venom GT. I have probably said more to you right now about this car than I have to the entire auto media in the last year. But I just wanted to give you my own personal reasoning for what the car is and why / how we built it: Absolute maximum performance.
