One other thing related to SSC. Two weeks ago Anthony Ray (Sir Mix-a-Lot) and I drove out to Richland for a couple of days to participate in the Cool Desert Nights car event where roughly 600-800 cars participate in a series of car activities. Anthony drove his LP640 and I drove my SV and the two of us had a terrific time. The one thing we noticed everywhere we went was how much pride Richland, Washington took in SSC. We were constantly asked if we knew them and that they held the world record. This was incredibly heartwarming to see. That town couldn't be more proud of that small company and what it's achieved and Anthony too has become a huge fan and mentions the SSC in one of his upcoming songs.

i love the SSC, i think its a wonderful story of passion for true speed and desire to build that is what makes this car so much win. i also think the areo is a pretty cool looking car, and who the f*** cares if they use parts that other cars do, they all share.

Good for you UA keep up the good work, i look forward to purchasing one of your sweet rides one day

Errr. Ok. Not sure why you think I'd drive an Accord, but sure.

Fine, you win. I'm a frustrated broke-ass poor sap trying to pour my hate for life on SSC for no good reason.

The car looks spectacular and is hands down the best supercar out there. Keep up the outstanding job. I'm oh-so-excited to see the Super Really Ultimate Aero beat the world top speed record. I really can barely contain my excitement.

If I had the money for a Veyron, I wouldn't get one. I would be a lot more likely to get an SSC. The price for the Veyron is just outrages, and when you think that you can have a car with just as much speed and excitement for half the price, it is a done deal (imo)

Am I the only one that thinks the Bugatti Veyron, is a car just for rich arses to show off how much money they have? (I'm looking at you Simon Cowell) I really do not think that the majority of Veyron owners would ever drive their cars like they are designed to be driven. According to what Tommy says that SSC owners drive their cars like they should be driven, I completely believe that. If you own a Veyron, that does not make you an enthusiast, but if you have an SSC, I think it does imo.

Anyway, I can't wait to see what SSC comes up with!

Zorro- You come off as a guy who knows nothing but has lots of attitude regardless. It's not an argument about the SSC is better than anything else or not, as the facts speak for themselves, it's a matter of context- something you seem to miss over and over again. SSC is about bottom line numbers, not about frills.

So many people are willing to wave the flag of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, etc., but never ever stop to think of their humble beginnings and what it would have been like to know those founders when they were struggling to get their foot in the door. You'd have been one of those guys bashing them too, that they weren't cutting edge enough, etc. Unlike you, I'm cheering on all these guys willing to risk everything to do something few could even comprehend undertaking in the first place. What makes SSC especially cool are the people behind it who don't seek personal attention and are content to just focus on building cars, each better than the car before.

As for the Bugatti- My friend who has one always has to chase down higher octane fuel or not drive the car. Whenever we're going somewhere we'd have to plan accordingly or flat bed his car back home, given that he can't just leave it and go bring back a few gallons of gas. It became such a pain in the ass to go on drives that he brought out his LP640 instead. The very first time we went on a drive together he had to split off and head home just because there were so few places to get the right octane. I don't recall what it uses. It's still a very nice car and there is nothing out there with the same fit and finish. If you ever have a chance to see one, they are truly spectacular up close.

Read this carefully.

I tell you the SSC does nothing for me for 2 main reasons :
1 - looks
2 - lack of innovation at all levels.
I also happen to believe these issues will keep it from succeeding in a competitive market. We could definitely debate that last point like civilized people if you were so inclined.

But you come back at me like the average fanboy telling me I'm full of crap, that SSC needs time (somehow that makes it prettier? or more innovative?) and that SSC is great because it is in the Guinness World Record book for top speed of all things. And taking stabs at the competition in everyone of your replies. Has it ever crossed your mind I may have been in one? Or in a Veyron?

So yes, I give you attitude.

And now, instead of having a boring ugly car, you have a boring ugly car with pretentious leadership.

This is where the discussion ends for me. I felt indifferent towards the car, now I dislike it.

Sincerely,

Not Impressed.

PS - Don't worry about an enthusiast's opinions, I'm sure you'll sell a bunch in Russia and middle-east anyways.

edit - PPS : All this being said, I can't wait to see the upcoming Castriota designed SSC, he usually has amazing mid-engine designs. If at least the looks can be on par with the performance, we'll start getting somewhere.
