great post d55l
First off I did not use the word "humiliate" That is a very emotive word, I said faster. The Veyron is a very fast car but when it comes to covering ground across a twisty mountain pass the Zonda is faster. Ask John Barker one of the lead testers on EVO Magazine for his personnel opinion as that is what he told me.

Track tests have shown the Zonda to be faster, the most well known being the Top Gear test. And it could be augured that cars at this level of performance can only be measured on the track as that is a controlled environment

The Veyron only comes into its own when it has the space to flex its muscles in a straight line. Compared to most supercars it does defy logic but its sheer weight counts against it when it is up against the likes of the Zonda in a cross country dash. Remember that it almost twice the weight of the Zonda

Its ability to out accelerate every other street car only focuses on a narrow area of its ability, if we all drove on autobahns every day I would retract my statement, but in the real world we don’t.

A comparison of supercar speeds in the real world (read: public roads) is as pointless as it gets. Of two very fast cars, the one with the braver (or more stupid) driver will win. The more risk you take, the faster you will be. At some point, it is simply not possible to go faster on public, single-lane roads without the risk of killing oneself getting too high. Even a GT3 driven like hell won't be substantially slower than a Zonda or Bugatti (apart from the Autobahn/Highway when there's very light traffic or none at all).

Agree completely, and I'd go further to say that the real-world point where driver 'bravery' becomes the dominating factor is vastly below the Veyron/Zonda level. A well-driven Miata will spank a conservatively-driven hypercar on a twisty public road. An Evo/STi is plenty quick in that setting to stay with a hypercar anywhere that isn't a big long straight.

That's not to say that these cars are equal in the experiences they offer, merely that tire grip limits everything, so anything well-sorted on street tires will offer a limit that's within the ball-park of anything else, except in straight acceleration.

Wait for the true facts in the coming month. I can only say that 1200 hp is right and that it will be a reworked über-Veyron.

I have some new information regarding the Veyron Grand Prix. Bugatti will only build 31 Veyron Grand Prixs to honor the 31 Grand Prixs the company has won in their history. Also, the Veyron Grand Prix will not be built at the Molsheim factory but at the VAG prototype facility in Germany so that it doesn't interfere with the veyron grand sport production.
