Exclamation Teamspeed Rumormill: New Bugatti Veyron with 1200 HP coming!

All I know at this moment that new version of Veyron will have 1200 hp and it is coming for sure soon enough, this is all. Further details like torque, top speed, possible renewed body design and possible lower weight are a secret as for now. Here is an article translated from German - Big Boss Piëch confirmed that next Bugatti will have 1200 hp:
During a lecture at the Vienna University of Technology Prof. Piëch raised almost in passing something secret for the next Bugatti model. That there will be a new car under the brand revived by his French tradition is remarkable in itself. For Bugatti was not without controversy. And then the performance! The current Veyron draws from sixteen cylinders in a W-arrangement of his quite acceptable PS 1001. Some could be in mountainous areas domiciled drivers but this still be a bit too much - after all one wishes now and then one more swipe Haucherl.

Therefore shall Bugatti on it two percent. 1200, in words, one thousand two hundred horsepower cars also point such as the Koenigsegg CCXR in the lists in Sweden one has even a version in 1018 with PS work. Unfortunately, too little, back to the start! Ferdinand Piëch is already gone with the new Bugatti and praised the great practicality of the super-athlete.

Anyone who drives an "older" Bugatti, do not have to relinquish the unique service, including "flying" technicians and personal care. A service extension can be booked at the factory, but "you have to allow about an Audi A8 with the Basispeis a comparable value," said Piëch.

I am just waiting with passion for more details, it is going to be The King

I have always been one of those guys that said "too much power is never quite enough" but I have to question Bugatti's direction hear.

Yes we all know that in a drag race the Veyron will leave everyone for dead but as has been shown, cars like the Zonda with much lower power outputs are actually faster in a real world environment and on the track.

Why speed time developing even more power when a drastic reduction in weight will produce a much faster and more agile car.

The current power outputs and weight of the Veyron contribute to the fact that a set of tyres will only last 3000 miles at best and that you have to change the wheels themselves every 3 sets of tyres at a ridicules cost.

Also the biggest development hurdle they had was heat management, if they add more power that problem is going to come back.

So in conclusion, does the Veyron need to be any faster, I think not. Just think how good a car they would have if they strapped the current engine into a Zonda type chassis? Now that would be interesting

Bugatti will tranfer to this car many lessons learned here which were missed when regular Veyron was developed, that is what lets me think it will be amazing. I think that reduction is weight will take place, not to Zonda levels, but still. From what I have heard this car is set to rewrite the meaning of speed.

Where have you seen/read that? In a real world environment the Veyron will humiliate a Zonda. On a track, the zonda is might be faster, but not on the street.

great post d55l

Bugatti 18/3 Chiron concept from 1999. It had an 18 cylinder engine made up of 3 banks of 6 cylinders. The one in front is actually the original 18/4 Veyron concept which utilized the same engine. Both of these cars are on temporary loan to the Mullin museum from Bugatti Automobilia.

In an interview with a Bugatti engineer, he let it slip that they "had gotten 1800hp out of it"
