In this video it actually sounded better than the previous video I saw of the car. Still not very excited about the rear end styling. I am sure that this car will be one of the best road cars available and based upon the quoted figures I think it will outperform the 458. Turbocharged cars usually don't sound as good as normally aspirated ones but I was very impressed with what I heard.

I agree. But it didn't sound too bad for a turbocharged car...

Ron Dennis said this in a recent single-page interview published in Car&Driver:

"One of the things we have put in place for the future strategy of the company is that there's a whole range of products coming... there will be, in broad principles, a new car of one sort or another every single year from now for 12 years. That's the plan. And that's a huge difference from just going into the uncertainty of "what next?" which we had with the F1."

Lofty goals, as they say. Their real struggle in my opinion will have nothing to do with developing the car, but rather pulling together a successful worldwide dealer network in these somewhat challenging economic times.

Virtual dealership. Here's how it works. You have a demo car, that I keep in my garage, so people can drive before they buy, ideally on days when I don't want to drive it. Then they order the car, and I get a huge cut of the sales. When the car comes in, I'll put a few thousand miles on it, so the owner doesn't have to worry about break-in. Service can be outsourced. Twin-turbo+dual-clutch = rebadged GT-R, so I'll just sub that to the local Nissan dealer.

Epic win all round, right?

They have drivers working in shifts for testing non stop.... THIS IS WHY MCLAREN WILL ALWAYS KILL THE COMPETITION.

Love their dedication and the logic behind their new cars... good visibility, comfort etc!

It aint a F1 replacement. It is an " entry level " car to compete with Porsche/ ferrari/ Aston etc. More cars will be developed down the line.

And I don't think the F1 was hardcore ( certainly badass ). By all accounts it seems to be a pretty drivable car, and many people have said the suspension was to soft, which is evident when the car is been flung around a track.

This car will be a huge success.

It has been said before, many times actually, that the 4-12C will not be a replacement for the F1. If it were planned to be then yes, it would fall short. The fact that it is a totally new car in a different segment than the F1, possibly competing with the likes of the Gallardo, 458, etc, makes it a segment killer in my mind. It will force Ferrari, Lambo and manufacturers of the like to step up their game in this segment big time.

I can not wait to see one in the flesh.

Guys check out these videos, they give a great insight into the thinking behind the McLaren. The more I see and hear the more I like it. And it’s also great that that the factory is keeping me up to date as a prospective buyer with regular email’s and updates on where they are with the car and what is going on. If they continue in this fashion and take it into the after sales service all of the other supercar manufacturers are going to have to up their games.

Watch these in order:
