I have no problem believing Lexus sold the 165 cars allocated to Japan. The Japanese are pretty chauvinistic when it comes to cars and after years without a real Japanese sportscar/supercar there are probably plenty of takers for an über Supra or the like.

Yea, I'd guess the same thing too, but out of national pride.

If they are not enthusiasts, then why are they buying the car? They must at least be enthusiasts for the brand yet on the Lexus forum I was flamed for just asking the question, as if, "How dare you?"

They are buying the car because it is the latest and greatest. It's expensive and exclusive and they want to show it off. Much like the SLR was.

I personally think the car somewhat looks cheap in appearance. No way it looks like a 300k car.
