WICKED goal but why does a scrimmage and skills competition bring more people than an actual regular season game?

WINNIPEG JETS REVEAL NEW LOGO FOR THEIR NHL RETURN

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=372277

"After weeks of anticipation, the Winnipeg Jets finally revealed their logo on Friday with a new look representing their new future in the National Hockey League.

The emblem, launched on their official website on Friday afternoon, looks dramatically different from the old one that the represented the city 15 years ago when the original Jets franchise left for Phoenix. It features a silhouette of a CF-18 Hornet pointing skywards and centred squarely on top of a red Maple Leaf.

"True North Sports & Entertainment felt it was important for the new Winnipeg Jets to develop a strong new identity," said Mark Chipman, Chairman & Governor of True North Sports & Entertainment in a statement. "We felt it was important to authenticate the name Jets and we believe the new logo does that through its connection to our country's remarkable Air Force heritage, including the rich history and relationship that our city and province have enjoyed with the Canadian Forces."

The logo is ready to be printed on NHL and other hockey publications, as well as 2011-12 tickets for all 30 teams. The club's home and away jerseys are expected to be revealed later this summer.

The team announced at the NHL Entry Draft last month that it would nicknamed the Jets after the league approved the move of the Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg.

The Jets' first regular season game will at home against the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday, October 9."

I don't like how the maple leaf is behind it. Wonder how the jerseys will look.

WOW! LOVE the military inspiration. The Moose have a close relationship with them so this just takes it one step beyond.

Dunno if the Moose will keep ties with the Jets this coming season they are moving out east to St-Johns...
