Hendo just wins LHW Strikeforce belt but loses to Jake Shields who "lost" to Kampmann who lost to Sanchez...so in reality...Sanchez could be Strikeforce LHW champ???...oh man MMA is crazy...lol

Hendo lost to shields at MW, so maybe he's better off at LHW? Who knows. I'm a huge Hendo fan, and since he's almost as old as me, whatever he succeeds at I'll applaud.

And btw, Hendo, had he played it smart, would've finished Shields in RD 1 when he had him hurt. Waiting for a younger guy to tire was a really bad idea. He could've KO'd Shields early and been done with it. The longer the fight goes, the more conditioning and youth start to weigh against the older guy. The fact that Hendo was in good enough shape this wknd to end it in the 3rd is a credit to him and his trainers working their absolute asses off in prep for this bout. I wouldn't expect too many more successes after a first or second round for Hendo going forward. The odds are against it.

This...i 100% agree with...was a big mistake to let it escape the first.

Btw...FORM ATHLETICS has caught my eye of late...they have some serious nice gear.

Its really nice to see a DIFFERENT angle to MMA apparel outside of TAPOUT and SILVERSTAR and so on.

Some legit UFC fighters with FORM...ALL of team ALPHA MALE...Jones, Pettis, Munoz...

Form Athletics | Urijah Faber :: Mark Munoz :: Joseph Benavidez :: Chad Mendes :: Jon Bones Jones :: Anthony Pettis :: Scott Jorgensen

March 2011

Welcome to Versus.com's latest mixed martial arts rankings.

Lots of activity this month with every major promotion putting on at least one show since we last released our rankings.

Take a look at the rankings below, and visit the Versus rankings archive.

HEAVYWEIGHT
1. Cain Velasquez (9-0) - Velasquez is still on pace to return in the fall.
2. Junior dos Santos (12-1) - JDS vs. Brock Lesnar is set for June 11.
3. Fabricio Werdum (14-4-1) - Werdum vs. Overeem has been pushed back to June 18, meaning Werdum will not have fought for just about a year after the biggest win of his career.
4. Brock Lesnar (5-2) - See #2.
5. Alistair Overeem (34-11, 1 NC) - See #3.
6. Antonio Silva (16-2) - Silva finally took the next step in his career by beating Fedor.
7. Fedor Emelianenko (31-3, 1 NC) - My guess? Fedor doesn't fight again before December.
8. Shane Carwin (12-1) - Still no opponent signed for Carwin yet.
9. Frank Mir (14-5) - Fights Roy Nelson in May.
10. Roy Nelson (15-5) - See #9.

Honorable mention: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Sergei Kharitonov, Brendan Schaub, Mirko Cro Cop.

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT
1. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (19-4) - Rua will defend his title on March 19 against Jon Jones.
2. Rashad Evans (15-1-1) - I think he should fight someone else before getting another crack at the title.
3. Quinton Jackson (31-8) - Faces Matt Hamill at UFC 130 in May.
4. Lyoto Machida (16-2) - Will fight Randy Couture on April 30.
5. Jon Jones (12-1) - I think Jones beats Rua at UFC 128.
6. Forrest Griffin (18-6) - Big win over Rich Franklin at UFC 126.
7. Dan Henderson (27-8) - Say hello to the new Strikeforce light heavyweight champion.
8. Ryan Bader (12-1) - Suffered the first loss of his career against Jones at UFC 125.
9. Thiago Silva (15-2) - His future is up in the air after an alleged positive drug test.
10. Randy Couture (19-10) - See #4.

Honorable Mention: Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante, Muhammed Lawal, Gegard Mousasi, Rich Franklin, Matt Hamill, Vladimir Matyushenko.

MIDDLEWEIGHT
1. Anderson Silva (28-4) - Will wait to see what happens when GSP fights Shields on April 30.
2. Chael Sonnen (25-11-1) - Publicly called out Michael Bisping. Still no word on his return.
3. Yushin Okami (26-5) - Unless Shields beats GSP, looks like he won't be getting a title shot any time soon.
4. Nate Marquardt (30-10-2) - Faces Yoshihiro Akiyama on March 19.
5. Demian Maia (14-2) - Solid win over Kendall Grove in December. No word on his return.
6. Michael Bisping (21-3) - Dana White says he is in trouble after his illegal knee and post-fight antics in the Jorge Rivera fight.
7. Ronaldo Souza (14-2, 1 NC) - No idea who is next. Mayhem?
8. Vitor Belfort (19-9) - Devastating loss to Silva at UFC 126.
9. Alan Belcher (16-6) - He has been cleared to train following multiple eye surgeries this summer.
10. Jorge Santiago (23-8) - Faces Brian Stann at UFC 130.

Honorable Mention: Hector Lombard, Brian Stann, Kazuo Misaki, Robbie Lawler, Wanderlei Silva.

WELTERWEIGHT
1. Georges St-Pierre (21-2) - Will face Jake Shields on April 30 in Toronto.
2. Jon Fitch (23-3-1, 1 NC) - I agreed with the decision at UFC 127, although I don't think the third round was a 10-8 round.
3. Jake Shields (26-4-1) - See #1.
4. Nick Diaz (24-7, 1 ND) - Will face Paul Daley on April 9.
5. Thiago Alves (18-7) - Faces Rick Story on Memorial Day weekend.
6. Josh Koscheck (15-5) - If all goes well, he could return by the end of the year.
7. BJ Penn (16-7-2) - Performed a lot better against Fitch than I thought he would.
8. Carlos Condit (26-5) - Forced to pull out of his fight against Lytle due to a knee injury.
9. Dan Hardy (23-8) - Will face Anthony Johnson at UFN 24 in March.
10. Martin Kampmann (17-5) - I thought he beat Sanchez at UFC on Versus 3, two rounds to one.

1. Frankie Edgar (13-1-1) - Gets a third crack at Gray Maynard at UFC 130.
2. Gray Maynard (10-0-1) - See above.

9. Tatsuya Kawajiri (27-6-2) - See #4.
10. Anthony Pettis (13-1) - "Showtime" will have to wait a little longer to get his shot at the UFC lightweight title.

Honorable Mention: George Sotiropoulos, Sean Sherk, Melvin Guillard, Evan Dunham, Josh Thomson, "JZ" Cavalcante.

FEATHERWEIGHT
1. Jose Aldo (18-1) - Will defend his title against Mark Hominick on April 30.
2. Hatsu Hioki (23-4-2) - With SRC's future in doubt, his future in Japan is very much in doubt.
3. Chad Mendes (10-0) - Dominated Michihiro Omigawa at UFC 126. I think he's next in line for a title shot.
3. Diego Nunes (16-1) - Welcomes Kenny Florian to the featherweight division in June.
4. Manny Gamburyan (11-5) - Pulled out of UFC 128 due to an injury.
5. Michihiro Omigawa (12-9-1) - Didn't look great against Mendes in his return to the UFC.
6. Marlon Sandro (17-2) - Newest member of the Bellator featherweight division.
8. Josh Grispi (14-2) - Faces George Roop in June.
9. Mark Hominick (20-8) - His win over George Roop on Jan. 22 secured "The Machine" a title shot against Aldo in his home province of Ontario on April 30.
