Played for first time in a while

And won this 30 person tournament here in my neighborhood put on by the Homes Association.

It was a lot of fun. I especially hadn't played tournament style play in probably 2 years. What was also funny about this tournament is with the exception of me, everyone was either <25 years old or >45 years old.

When there were 3 of us left, I was tied with this woman for the lead and the 3rd person was at about half our stack size. I ended up putting him all in with 7-7 and I was guessing he had a weak Ace. I was right, he had A-4.

The board ended up 8-8-10-10-Q, and his Ace played so he won. That hurt quite badly, but long story short, I was able to get back in it and knock him out.

Then in heads up I was able to pretty much steam roll this woman who was good enough to be bluffed, but not good enough to make plays back at me. It was quite fun.

Just thought I'd share.

The buy in was only $20 per person and we did a winner take all, so I left with $600.

Poker is fun.

Nick is an unknown quantity at this point
I take it you're >25 but <45. Sounds like you have a nice neighbourhood, congratulations on winning, playing for money always makes it more interesting. Next time demand a trophy

I took a 4 month lay off from the game after I lost my bankroll last year during SEMA. I started up again in February and am already up about $1800 at my local $1-2 NL game

The break was the best thing I could have done. Good job Scott!

I took a big hit on a hand Friday night after about a 9 hour session. Dealer threw out 3 different sets 9's K's (mine) and a friends A's was a $1500 pot

dealer said it's the first time he's dealt that in the 10 years he's been a dealer.

Nice takedown Scott. Even if you're racing with the 7's (versus your 4:1 situation), its the right move to stack that third player. The board just sucked there. But it's the right move.

Thanks guys.

I played the tournament again last night. I and another guy were the final two and just chopped. I'm pretty psyched. 2 and 0 ... Woohoo!

This was fun because I was short stack early and for a while. I made a huge comeback and became chip leader when I slow played KK pre-flop. Good for me another guy didn't raise with AK. Flop was AKJ. I was scared of Q10, but obviously had to go all in with him as we kept raising each other. No ace came and I doubled up.

HB,

I lost $300 in Vegas to that exact situation. I was 3rd place set with 7's. The dealer said, "The last time I dealt this the 3rd set won." I almost slapped her. What a jinx.
The 2nd place set won.
