Talking

its OFFICIAL...Brock fights again at UFC121

Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez headlines UFC 121 in California | MMAjunkie.com

"Sorry, Indianapolis. You missed it by that much.

UFC president Dana White got his wish, and heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar (5-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) will return to action sooner rather than later to take on top contender Cain Velasquez (8-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC).

But while UFC 119 was the original target date, Lesnar and Velasquez will instead meet in the main event of UFC 121.

As MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) first reported, UFC 121 will take place Oct. 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

The Lesnar vs. Velasquez matchup was first reported by MMAFighting.com, who confirmed the contest with UFC president Dana White.

Lesnar returned from a year-long layoff and a near-death experience to dismantle interim title holder Shane Carwin at UFC 116 just one week ago. Following the impressive second-round victory, in which Lesnar battled back from adversity in the opening frame and flashed some jiu-jitsu skills in the second, the heavyweight champion was reluctant to commit to a return date and instead stated he was looking forward to a little fall farming.

Instead, he'll have to plant the crops just a little later.

Meanwhile, Velasquez earned his crack at the belt with an impressive knockout of all-time great Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at February's UFC 110 event. Velasquez has been idle since while awaiting the outcome of the Lesnar-Carwin matchup.

A California native and resident, Velasquez's previous win came over Ben Rothwell at UFC 104 in Los Angeles."

dude, don't dog Fedor... Guy is a class act and has been the "king" of the sport for a long time! He is up there in age and I feel he has lost a step, but he didn't loose to some chump! Fedor 3-4 years ago vs Brock with 3-4 more fights under his belt would have been an INCREDIBLE fight....

JAKE SHIELDS vs MARTIN KAMPMANN at UFC 121!!! excitement!!!

Jake Shields signs with UFC, meets Martin Kampmann at UFC 121 | MMAjunkie.com

"Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields (25-4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he'll return to the welterweight division and fight Martin Kampmann (17-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) at UFC 121.

MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) today confirmed the expected plans with Jack Shields, Jake's father and manager, who said bout agreements are being finalized today.

Shields had hoped to remain at middleweight for his Oct. 23 debut, but Jack Shields said the fighter agreed to drop back to welterweight at the urging of UFC officials.

UFC 121 takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. MMAFighting.com first reported the possibility of the fight over the weekend.

"Jake has fought a lot of the top guys, and now he'll fight the best of the them," Jack Shields told MMAjunkie.com. "He's happy the signing has come to fruition."

Shields, who also previously held titles with Shooto and EliteXC, makes his octagon debut with a staggering 14-fight win streak. In his most recent fight, he defended his belt and defeated ex-UFC fighter Dan Henderson at April's CBS-televised "Strikeforce: Nashville" event. Shields, in fact, topped many other UFC veterans during his streak, including ex-champ Dave Menne, Yushin Okami, Carlos Condit, Mike Pyle, Nick Thompson, Paul Daley, Robbie Lawler and Jason "Mayhem" Miller.

After his string of eight consecutive stoppage victories, Shields' recent wins over Henderson and Miller came via decision.

Kampmann, a former kickboxer who's rounded out his fight game with solid ground skills, is a former middleweight contender who dropped to 170 pounds 2009. He's 4-1 since the move with recent victories over Jacob Volkmann at UFC 108 (submission) and Paulo Thiago (decision) at UFC 115. The lone loss came to Daley in 2009.

A victory for either Shields or Kampmann very well could result in a title shot. Current champ Georges St-Pierre and Josh Koscheck fight in December following their stints as coaches on "The Ultimate Fighter 12," but the Shields vs. Kampmann winner (or the winner of a UFC 117 bout between Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves) could be next in line."

"Rampage" Jackson verbally agrees to face Lyoto Machida at Nov. 20 UFC event

"Rampage" Jackson verbally agrees to face Lyoto Machida at Nov. 20 UFC event | MMAjunkie.com

"A long-anticipated battle between two former UFC champions is likely to take place this fall.

MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) has learned from sources close to the organization that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (30-8 MMA, 5-2 UFC) has verbally agreed to face Lyoto Machida (16-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC).

Jackson teased the contest on his official Twitter account, and MMAjunkie.com has learned that the bout is targeted for the main event of a yet-to-be-announced Nov. 20 date.

"Almost ready to sign the bout agreement," Jackson stated on his Twitter account. "I would tell ya'll who I'm gonna get down with, but I can't spell his name. Hahaha."

As Jackson alluded to in the post, bout agreements have yet to be finalized.

A location for the Nov. 20 card (which could potentially serve as UFC 123) has yet to be determined, and UFC officials are said to be considering a handful of potential venues.

Jackson looks to bounce back from a May loss to nemesis Rashad Evans at UFC 114. The contest was the culmination of 14 months worth of rivalry and a coaching gig on "The Ultimate Fighter" opposite Evans.

Prior to the loss, Jackson had earned back-to-back victories over Keith Jardine and Wanderlei Silva.

Meanwhile, Machida also looks to bounce back from a loss – the first defeat of his career. "The Dragon" was knocked out in the first round of his May rematch with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and relinquished his belt in the process.

Prior to the defeat, Machida had earned eight-straight UFC wins and both claimed and once defended the UFC's light heavyweight title.

Jackson was said to be interested in a rematch with Forrest Griffin – the man who took the title from "Rampage" in July 2008 – but the original winner of "The Ultimate Fighter" is currently sidelined following shoulder surgery.

The winner of the Jackson-Machida contest will undoubtedly return to top-contender status in a stacked 205-pound division."
